The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. Before 1383 Richard Talbot 7th Baron Strange Blackmere 4th Baron Talbot (age 21) and Ankaret Strange 7th Baroness Strange Blackmere, Baroness Talbot (age 21) were married. They were third cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King Edward I of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King John of England.

In 1383 [her son] John "Old Talbot" Talbot 1st Earl of Shrewsbury was born to [her husband] Richard Talbot 7th Baron Strange Blackmere 4th Baron Talbot (age 22) and Ankaret Strange 7th Baroness Strange Blackmere, Baroness Talbot (age 22) at Black Mere Castle, Whitchurch [Map]. On 23rd September 1383 [her daughter] Mary Talbot was born to [her husband] Richard Talbot 7th Baron Strange Blackmere 4th Baron Talbot (age 22) and Ankaret Strange 7th Baroness Strange Blackmere, Baroness Talbot (age 22) at Hatford, Cheshire. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Edward I of England.

In or before 1384 [her future husband] Thomas Neville Baron Furnivall (age 21) and Joan Furnival 5th Baroness Furnivall (age 8) were married. He by marriage Baron Furnivall. They were third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 24th April 1386 [her father-in-law] Gilbert Talbot 3rd Baron Talbot (age 54) died at Roales del Pan. His son [her husband] Richard (age 25) succeeded 4th Baron Talbot. Ankaret Strange 7th Baroness Strange Blackmere, Baroness Talbot (age 25) by marriage Baroness Talbot.
