Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

Biography of Charles Darwin 1809-1882

Paternal Family Tree: Darwin

On 18th April 1796 [his father] Robert Darwin (age 29) and [his mother] Susannah Wedgwood (age 31) were married. She brought £25,000 which she had inherited from her father [his grandfather] Josiah Wedgwood who had died the previous year. They has six children.

On 12th February 1809 Charles Darwin was born to [his father] Robert Darwin (age 42) and [his mother] Susannah Wedgwood (age 44).

On 15th July 1817 [his mother] Susannah Wedgwood (age 52) died.

On 27th December 1831 Charles Darwin (age 22) set sail on the HMS Beagle for his five year voyage of discovery.

On 24th January 1839 Charles Darwin (age 29) was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.

On 29th January 1839 Charles Darwin (age 29) and Emma Wedgwood (age 30) were married. They were first cousins.

On 13th November 1848 [his father] Robert Darwin (age 82) died.

In 1859 Charles Darwin (age 49) published "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life".

On 19th April 1882 Charles Darwin (age 73) died.

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
