William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

Before 1505 [his father] Henry Parker 11th Baron Marshal 10th Baron Morley [aged 23] and [his mother] Alice St John Baroness Marshal Baroness Morley were married.

In or before 1513 Henry Parker was born to [his father] Henry Parker 11th Baron Marshal 10th Baron Morley [aged 31] and [his mother] Alice St John Baroness Marshal Baroness Morley.

On 23rd December 1518 [his grandmother] Alice Lovell 10th Baroness Marshal 9th Baroness Morley [aged 51] died at Hallingbury Morley, Essex. Her son [his father] Henry [aged 37] succeeded 11th Baron Marshal, 10th Baron Morley. [his mother] Alice St John Baroness Marshal Baroness Morley by marriage Baroness Marshal, Baroness Morley.

On 18th May 1523 Henry Parker [aged 10] and Grace Newport [aged 6] were married.

In January 1533 [his son] Henry Parker 12th Baron Marshal 11th Baron Morley was born to Henry Parker [aged 20] and [his wife] Grace Newport [aged 16]. He married 1550 his half sixth cousin Elizabeth Stanley Baroness and Morley, daughter of Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby, and had issue.

Coronation of Anne Boleyn

On 1st June 1533 the six months pregnant Queen Anne Boleyn of England [aged 32] was crowned Queen Consort England by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer [aged 43] at Westminster Abbey [Map]. See Coronation of Anne Boleyn.

John de Vere 15th Earl of Oxford [aged 62] bore the Crown. Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk [aged 16] carried the Salt. Margaret Wotton Marchioness Dorset [aged 46] rode in the procession. William Coffin [aged 38] was appointed Master of the Horse. Robert Radclyffe 1st Earl of Sussex [aged 50] served as Lord Sewer. Henry Parker [aged 20] and William Coffin were knighted. Thomas Berkeley 6th Baron Berkeley [aged 28], Thomas Stanley 2nd Baron Monteagle [aged 26] and Henry Capell [aged 27] were created Knight of the Bath. Margaret Wotton Marchioness Dorset rode in the procession. Arthur Hopton [aged 44] attended.

Thomas More [aged 55] refused to attend. Shortly thereafter, More was charged with accepting bribes, but the charges had to be dismissed for lack of any evidence.

Anne Braye Baroness Cobham [aged 32] was the attendant horsewoman.

Charles Wriothesley [aged 25] attended.

In 1536 Henry Parker [aged 23] was appointed High Sheriff of Essex and High Sheriff of Hertfordshire.

In 1539 Henry Parker [aged 26] was elected MP Hertfordshire.

Around 1547 Henry Parker [aged 34] was appointed Custos Rotulorum Hertfordshire.

In 1547 Henry Parker [aged 34] was elected MP Hertfordshire.

Around 1549 [his son] Philip Parker was born to Henry Parker [aged 36] and [his future wife] Elizabeth Calthorpe [aged 28].

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

She by marriage Baroness Marshal, Baroness Morley. She the daughter of Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby [aged 40] and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby [aged 39]. They were half sixth cousins.

Before 8th December 1553 Henry Parker [aged 40] died.

Henry Machyn's Diary. 8th December 1553. The day of Desember was bered in Essex my lord Morley [aged 40] with iiij penons of armes and with schochyons and with torchys and mony mornars in blake.

Note. P. 50. Funeral of [sir Henry Parker, son and heir of] lord Morley. This funeral probably belongs to the son of lord Morley [aged 72], who died in his father's lifetime. The funeral of lord Morley himself, who died in 1556, is noticed in p. 120.
