Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes

In 1440 William Douglas 3rd Lord Drumlanrig was born to [his father] William Douglas 2nd Lord Drumlanrig and [his mother] Jane Maxwell Lady Drumlanrig.

In 1458 [his father] William Douglas 2nd Lord Drumlanrig died. His son William (age 18) succeeded 3rd Lord Drumlanrig. Margaret Carlyle Lady Drumlanrig by marriage Lord Drumlanrig.

1460 Siege of Roxburgh

On 3rd August 1460 King James II of Scotland (age 29) was killed accidentally whilst besieging Roxburgh Castle when a cannon exploded and he was hit by debris. He was buried at Holyrood Abbey, Holyrood. His son James (age 9) succeeded III King Scotland.

William Douglas 3rd Lord Drumlanrig (age 20) was present.

Siege of Alnwick

In July 1462 William Douglas 3rd Lord Drumlanrig (age 22) fought at Alnwick Castle, Northumberland [Map] during the Siege of Alnwick.

In 1464 William Douglas 3rd Lord Drumlanrig (age 24) died. His son William succeeded 4th Lord Drumlanrig.
