Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 17th May 1663 William Glynne 2nd Baronet was born to William Glynne 1st Baronet [aged 25] and Penelope Anderson Lady Bicester aka Bisseter.

Around 1678 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 14] educated at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University.

On 5th July 1688 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 25] and Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter [aged 12] were married.

On 8th September 1690 [his father] William Glynne 1st Baronet [aged 52] died. His son William [aged 27] succeeded 2nd Baronet Glynne of Bicester aka Bisseter in Oxfordshire. [his wife] Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter [aged 14] by marriage Lady Glynne of Bicester aka Bisseter in Oxfordshire.

In 1691 [his mother] Penelope Anderson Lady Bicester aka Bisseter died.

After 1691 Stephen Glynne 3rd Baronet [aged 26] and Sophia Evelyn Lady Glynne of Bicester aka Bisseter were married. She by marriage Lady Glynne of Bicester aka Bisseter in Oxfordshire. She was his sister-in-law; her sister Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter [aged 15] having married his brother William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 27]. See Marriage of Two Sets of Siblings.

In 1698 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 34] was elected MP Oxford University.

In 1698 [his son] William Glynne was born to William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 34] and [his wife] Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter [aged 22].

In 1702 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 38] was elected MP Woodstock.

In 1706 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 42] was awarded Doctor of Civil Law at Oxford University.

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 3rd September 1721 William Glynne 2nd Baronet [aged 58] died. His brother Stephen [aged 56] succeeded 3rd Baronet Glynne of Bicester aka Bisseter in Oxfordshire.

In 1738 [his former wife] Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter [aged 62] died.

[his daughter] Mary Glynne Glynne was born to William Glynne 2nd Baronet and Mary Evelyn Lady Bicester aka Bisseter.
