Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet 1785-1848

On 8th July 1785 Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet was born.

In 1790 Edward Southwell 21st Baron Clifford [aged 22] sold Throwley Hall, Staffordshire [Map] to Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet [aged 4].

In 1818 Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet [aged 32] was elected MP East Retford which seat he held until 1826.

In 1826 Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet [aged 40] was elected MP Derby which seat he held until 1830.

On 3rd November 1829 Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet [aged 44] and Isabella Sophia Cathcart [aged 20] were married. The difference in their ages was 23 years.

In 1834 Samuel Crompton 1st Baronet [aged 48] was elected MP Thirsk from which seat he resigned in 1841.

The Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting the dignity of a Baronet of the said United Kingdom to the following Gentlemen, and the respective heirs male of their bodies lawfully begotten, viz.
