On 18th October 1867 Charles Abbot 2nd Baron Colchester [aged 69] died. His son Reginald [aged 25] succeeded 3rd Baron Colchester.

In 1919 Reginald Charles Abbot 3rd Baron Colchester [aged 77] died without issue. Baron Colchester extinct.
