Paternal Family Tree: Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk

On 22nd May 1777 [his father] Robert John Buxton 1st Baronet [aged 23] and Juliana Mary Beevor were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square.

On 13th August 1788 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet was born to Robert John Buxton 1st Baronet [aged 34].

In 1818 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 29] was elected MP Great Bedwyn and held the seat until 1832 when it was replaced in the Great Reform Act.

On 5th August 1825 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 36] and Elizabeth Cholmeley were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square.

On 13th March 1829 [his son] Robert Jacob Buxton 3rd Baronet was born to John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 40] and [his wife] Elizabeth Cholmeley.

In 1838 [his daughter] Isabella Anne Buxton was born to John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 49] and [his wife] Elizabeth Cholmeley. She married 25th July 1863 General Edward Earle Gascoigne Bulwer and had issue.

On 7th June 1839 [his father] Robert John Buxton 1st Baronet [aged 85] died. His son John [aged 50] succeeded 2nd Baronet Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk.

In 1841 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 52] was appointed High Sheriff of Norfolk.

On 13th October 1842 John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet [aged 54] died. His son Robert [aged 13] succeeded 3rd Baronet Buxton of Shadwell Lodge in Norfolk.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

[his daughter] Elizabeth Julia Buxton was born to John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet and Elizabeth Cholmeley. She married 1856 Walter Spencer-Stanhope and had issue.

John Jacob Buxton 2nd Baronet
