On 10th April 1809 [his father] Alan Hyde Gardner 2nd Baron Gardner [aged 39] and [his mother] Charlotte Elizabeth Smith Baroness Gardner were married. She by marriage Baroness Gardner.
On 29th January 1810 Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner was born to Alan Hyde Gardner 2nd Baron Gardner [aged 39] and Charlotte Elizabeth Smith Baroness Gardner.
Around February 1811 [his mother] Charlotte Elizabeth Smith Baroness Gardner died probably as a consequence of having given birth to two children Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 1] and [his sister] Charlotte Susannah Gardner, in January and December respectively the previous year.
On 22nd December 1815 [his father] Alan Hyde Gardner 2nd Baron Gardner [aged 45] died. His son Alan [aged 5] succeeded 3rd Baron Gardner.
In 1835 Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 24] and Frances Margaret Hughes Baroness Gardner [aged 20] were married. She by marriage Baroness Gardner.
On 9th June 1846 [his illegitimate son] Herbert Colstoun Gardner 1st Baron Burghclere was born illegitimately to Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 36]. He was born two years before his parents marriage and, therefore, was not elibigle to succeed to his father's barony.
On 3rd December 1847 [his wife] Frances Margaret Hughes Baroness Gardner [aged 33] died.
In December 1848 Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 38] and Julia Sarah Hayfield Fortescue Baroness Gardner [aged 31] were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. She by marriage Baroness Gardner.
On 7th February 1853 [his daughter] Florence Coulston Gardner Countess Onslow was born to Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 43]. She married 1875 William Onslow 4th Earl Onslow and had issue.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. In 1875 [his son-in-law] William Onslow 4th Earl Onslow [aged 21] and [his daughter] Florence Coulston Gardner Countess Onslow [aged 21] were married.
On 2nd November 1883 Alan Legge Gardner 3rd Baron Gardner [aged 73] died. Baron Gardner extinct. Some sources describe the title as Dormant.
On 3rd November 1899 [his former wife] Julia Sarah Hayfield Fortescue Baroness Gardner [aged 82] died.
