On 23rd December 1784 [his father] James Royds of Falinge [aged 26] and [his mother] Mary Smith [aged 17] were married at St Mary's Church, Rochdale [Note. Assumed to be the Parish Church of Rochdale.]

On 20th September 1799 Reverend Charles Smith Royds was born to James Royds of Falinge [aged 41] and Mary Smith [aged 32]. He was baptised on 29th November 1799 at St Mary's Church, Rochdale.

On 21st July 1816 [his mother] Mary Smith [aged 49] died.

In 1822 Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 22] was awarded BA by Christ's College, Cambridge University [Map]; in 1825 MA.

In 1831 Reverend Edward Royds [aged 40] resigned as Rector of St Giles' Church, Haughton [Map] in favour of his brother Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 31].

In 1836 Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 36] was appointed Rector of St Oswald's Church, Brereton [Map].

On 20th June 1837 Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 37] and Mary Anne Twemlow were married.

On 7th September 1840 [his daughter] Theodosia Mary Royds was born to Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 40] and [his wife] Mary Anne Twemlow. She was baptised on 4th October 1840 at St Giles' Church, Haughton [Map]. She married 20th April 1875 her second cousin Reverend George Boughey 5th Baronet, son of Thomas Fletcher Fenton Boughey 3rd Baronet.

In 1842 [his father] James Royds of Falinge [aged 84] died.

On 20th April 1875 [his son-in-law] Reverend George Boughey 5th Baronet [aged 37] and [his daughter] Theodosia Mary Royds [aged 34] were married. They were second cousins.

On 24th April 1879 Reverend Charles Smith Royds [aged 79] died at Haughton Rectory. He was buried at St Giles' Church, Haughton [Map] on 30th April 1879.

On 5th September 1885 [his former wife] Mary Anne Twemlow died. She was buried at St Giles' Church, Haughton [Map] on 10th September 1885.
