On 13th May 1953 Rowland Baring 2nd Earl Cromer [aged 75] died. His son Rowland [aged 34] succeeded 3rd Earl Cromer, 3rd Viscount Errington Hexham Northumberland.

On 16th March 1991 Rowland Baring 3rd Earl of Cromer [aged 72] died. His son Evelyn [aged 44] succeeded 4th Earl Cromer, 4th Viscount Errington Hexham Northumberland.
