Maternal Family Tree: Jane Mildmay Lady St-John Mildmay 1765-1857
In 1810 [his father] Paul Methuen 1st Baron Methuen [aged 30] and [his mother] Jane Dorothea Mildmay [aged 21] were married.
On 23rd February 1818 Frederick Methuen 2nd Baron Methuen was born to Paul Methuen 1st Baron Methuen [aged 38] and Jane Dorothea Mildmay [aged 29].
In 1844 Frederick Methuen 2nd Baron Methuen [aged 25] and Anna Horatia Sanford Baroness Methuen were married.
On 1st September 1845 [his son] Paul Methuen 3rd Baron Methuen was born to Frederick Methuen 2nd Baron Methuen [aged 27] and [his wife] Anna Horatia Sanford Baroness Methuen. He married (1) 18th June 1878 Evelyn Hervey-Bathurst, daughter of Frederick Hervey-Bathurst 3rd Baronet and Clare Emily Brooke (2) 1884 his half second cousin once removed Mary Ethel Sanford Baroness Methuen and had issue.
On 15th March 1846 [his mother] Jane Dorothea Mildmay [aged 57] died.
In 1848 [his daughter] Jane Charlotte Methuen was born to Frederick Methuen 2nd Baron Methuen [aged 29] and [his wife] Anna Horatia Sanford Baroness Methuen. She married 18th October 1870 Richard Southwell Stapleton-Cotton, son of Wellington Stapleton-Cotton 2nd Viscount Combermere and Susan Alice Sitwell, and had issue.
On 14th September 1849 [his father] Paul Methuen 1st Baron Methuen [aged 70] died. His son Frederick [aged 31] succeeded 2nd Baron Methuen of Corsham in Wiltshire. [his wife] Anna Horatia Sanford Baroness Methuen by marriage Baroness Methuen of Corsham in Wiltshire.
On 18th October 1870 [his son-in-law] Richard Southwell Stapleton-Cotton [aged 21] and [his daughter] Jane Charlotte Methuen [aged 22] were married.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 18th June 1878 [his son] Paul Methuen 3rd Baron Methuen [aged 32] and [his daughter-in-law] Evelyn Hervey-Bathurst [aged 30] were married. She died less than a year later on 2nd June 1879.

In 1884 [his son] Paul Methuen 3rd Baron Methuen [aged 38] and [his daughter-in-law] Mary Ethel Sanford Baroness Methuen were married. They were half second cousin once removed.
On 26th February 1891 Frederick Methuen 2nd Baron Methuen [aged 73] died. His son Paul [aged 45] succeeded 3rd Baron Methuen of Corsham in Wiltshire. Mary Ethel Sanford Baroness Methuen by marriage Baroness Methuen of Corsham in Wiltshire.
In 1899 [his former wife] Anna Horatia Sanford Baroness Methuen died.
