Germans blew up one of the trenches further along the line, so that they could fire down his line of trench. Captain Cholmeley during an attack rushed forward towards the flank of the company which was and was shot through the head and killed instantaneously. His son Hugh [aged 8] succeeded 5th Baronet Cholmeley of Easton in Lincolnshire.
