In 1195 Theobald of Bar I Count of Bar [aged 35] and Erminsende Namur Countess of Bar [aged 8] were married. She by marriage Countess Bar. The difference in their ages was 26 years. She the daughter of Henry "Blind" Namur IV Count Luxemburg I Count Namur [aged 83] and Agnes Guelders Countess Namur and Luxemburg. He the son of Renauld of Bar II Count of Bar and Agnes Blois Countess of Bar. They were sixth cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King William "Conqueror" I of England.

On 13th February 1214 Theobald of Bar I Count of Bar [aged 54] died. His son Henry succeeded II Count Bar.

On 13th November 1239 Henry of Bar II Count of Bar died. His son Theobald [aged 18] succeeded II Count Bar.

In 1245 Theobald of Bar II Count of Bar [aged 24] and Joanna Dampierre Countess Bar were married. She by marriage Countess Bar. She the daughter of William Dampierre II Count Flanders and Margaret II Countess Flanders [aged 42]. He the son of Henry of Bar II Count of Bar and Philippa Capet Countess of Bar. They were third cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King William "Conqueror" I of England. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King William "Conqueror" I of England.

In 1246 Theobald of Bar II Count of Bar [aged 25] and Jeanne Toucy Countess Bar were married. She by marriage Countess Bar. He the son of Henry of Bar II Count of Bar and Philippa Capet Countess of Bar.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

Around 1344 Henry of Bar IV Count of Bar [aged 29] died. His son Edward [aged 5] succeeded II Count Bar.

In 1364 Robert of Bar 1st Duke of Bar [aged 19] and Marie Valois Duchess Bar [aged 19] were married. She by marriage Countess Bar. She the daughter of King John "The Good" II of France [aged 44] and Bonne Luxemburg Queen Consort France. He the son of Henry of Bar IV Count of Bar and Yolande Dampierre Countess of Bar [aged 33].
