On 17th March 1720 John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira was born.
On 10th November 1741 John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 21] and Helena Perceval were married.
On 12th June 1746 [his wife] Helena Perceval died.
On 23rd December 1746 John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 26] and Anne Hill were married.
In August 1751 John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 31] and Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Theophilus Hastings 9th Earl Huntingdon and Selina Shirley Countess Huntingdon [aged 44].
In 1753 [his daughter] Anne Elizabeth Rawdon Countess Ailesbury was born to John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 32] and [his wife] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 21]. She married 14th February 1788 her fourth cousin twice removed Thomas Brudenell 1st Earl Ailesbury, son of George Brudenell 3rd Earl Cardigan and Elizabeth Bruce 3rd Countess Cardigan.
On 9th December 1754 [his son] Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings was born to John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 34] and [his wife] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 23]. He married 12th July 1804 Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings, daughter of James Mure-Campbell 5th Earl Loudon, and had issue.
On 19th November 1756 [his son] John Theophilus Rawdon was born to John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 36] and [his wife] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 25].
On 9th April 1759 [his daughter] Selina Frances Rawdon Countess Granard was born to John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 39] and [his wife] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 28]. She married 10th May 1779 George Forbes 6th Earl Granard, son of George Forbes 5th Earl Granard and Dorothy Bayly, and had issue.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

In 1769 [his son-in-law] Stephen Moore 1st Earl Mount Cashell [aged 38] and Helena Rawdon Countess Mount Cashell were married. She the daughter of John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 48] and Helena Perceval.
On 10th May 1779 [his son-in-law] George Forbes 6th Earl Granard [aged 19] and Selina Frances Rawdon Countess Granard [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 59] and Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 48]. He the son of George Forbes 5th Earl Granard [aged 39] and Dorothy Bayly.
On 14th February 1788 [his son-in-law] Thomas Brudenell 1st Earl Ailesbury [aged 58] and Anne Elizabeth Rawdon Countess Ailesbury [aged 35] were married. The difference in their ages was 23 years. She the daughter of John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 67] and Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 56]. He the son of George Brudenell 3rd Earl Cardigan and Elizabeth Bruce 3rd Countess Cardigan. They were fourth cousin twice removed.
On 2nd October 1789 [his brother-in-law] Francis Hastings 10th Earl Huntingdon [aged 60] died unmarried at the home of his nephew [his son] Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings [aged 34]. His fifth cousin once removed Theophilus [aged 60] de jure 11th Earl Huntingdon although he wasn't aware of the fact. His sister [his wife] Elizabeth [aged 58] succeeded 16th Baroness Botreaux, 15th Baroness Hungerford, 13th Baroness Moleyns and 13th Baroness Hastings
On 20th June 1793 John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira [aged 73] died. His son Francis [aged 38] succeeded 2nd Earl Moira.
On 11th April 1808 [his former wife] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 77] died. Her son Francis [aged 53] succeeded 17th Baron Botreaux, 16th Baron Hungerford, 14th Baron Moleyns and 14th Baron Hastings.

Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.
In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness.
