John Gostwick 1480-1545

Around 1480 John Gostwick was born to John Gostwick of Willington in Bedfordshire.

Around 1510 John Gostwick [aged 30] was appointed Gentleman Usher to King Henry VIII of England and Ireland [aged 18].

In 1529 John Gostwick [aged 49] bought Willington Manor from Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk [aged 56].

In 1538 John Gostwick [aged 58] was one of the judges who sentenced the Robert Hobbes, Abbot of Woburn, to be hanged for refusing to sign the Oath of Supremacy.

In 1539 John Gostwick [aged 59] was elected Knight of the Shire Bedfordshire.

On 15th April 1545 John Gostwick [aged 65] died. He was buried at St Michael's Church, Willington.
