In or before 1531 [his future brother-in-law] Robert Tyrwhitt (age 16) and Elizabeth Oxenbridge (age 1) were married.
On 19 Jul 1549 [his grandfather] Edmund Sheffield 1st Baron Sheffield (age 27) was killed at Cathedral Close, Norwich Cathedral [Map] during Kett's Rebellion. His son [his father] John Sheffield 2nd Baron Sheffield (age 11) succeeded 2nd Baron Sheffield of Butterwick in Lincolnshire.
Before 21 Nov 1558 Godfrey Foljambe (age 31) and [his future sister-in-law] Troth Tyrwhitt (age 24) were married.

On 03 Dec 1614 brothers [his son] John Sheffield, [his son] Edmund Sheffield (age 25) and [his son] Philip Sheffield (age 21) were drowned whilst attempting to cross the flooded River Ouse at the Whitgift Ferry, East Yorkshire [Map].

Mrs Ryder came here and told me Lord Sheffield’s (age 51) [his wife] wife (age 77) was lately dead since the King went from York.

Diary of Anne Clifford 1619. 04 Mar 1619. The 4th my Lord Sheffield (age 53) was married at Westminster in St. Margaret’s Church [Map] to one Anne Erwin, daughter of her [sec] Wilkam Erwin a Scottish man, which was held a very mean match, an undiscreet on part of him.
