Archibald Campbell 4th and Helen Hamilton Countess Argyll were married. She by marriage Countess Argyll. She the daughter of James Hamilton 1st Earl Arran and Elizabeth Home Countess Arran. He the son of Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll and Jean or Janet Gordon Countess Argyll. They were half third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

Around 1507 Archibald Campbell 4th was born to [his father] Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll (age 21) and [his mother] Jean or Janet Gordon Countess Argyll.

In August 1529 [his brother-in-law] James Stewart 1st Earl of Moray (age 30) and [his sister] Elizabeth Campbell Countess Moray and Sutherland were married. She by marriage Countess Moray. She the daughter of [his father] Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll (age 43) and [his mother] Jean or Janet Gordon Countess Argyll. He the illegitmate son of King James IV of Scotland and Janet Kennedy (age 49). They were half second cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

In August 1529 [his father] Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll (age 43) succeeded 3rd Earl Argyll.

On 9th October 1529 [his father] Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll (age 43) died. His son Archibald (age 22) succeeded 4th Earl Argyll.

Around 1534 [his son] Archibald Campbell 5th Earl Argyll was born to Archibald Campbell 4th (age 27) and Helen Hamilton Countess Argyll. He married 1553 his third cousin Jean Stewart Countess Argyll.

In 1538 Adam Gordon Earl Sutherland died. His grandson [his future brother-in-law] John (age 13) succeeded 11th Earl Sutherland. [his sister] Elizabeth Campbell Countess Moray and Sutherland by marriage Countess Sutherland.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 21st April 1541 Archibald Campbell 4th (age 34) and Margaret Graham Countess Argyll were married. She by marriage Countess Argyll. She the daughter of William Graham 3rd Earl Menteith (age 41). He the son of Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll and Jean or Janet Gordon Countess Argyll. They were fifth cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England.

Around 1544 [his son] Colin Campbell 6th Earl Argyll was born to Archibald Campbell 4th (age 37) and [his wife] Margaret Graham Countess Argyll. He married (1) on or after 14th October 1551 his second cousin Joan Stewart Countess Argyll (2) 13th January 1571 his half fourth cousin Agnes Keith Countess Moray and Mar, daughter of William Keith 4th Earl Marischal and Margaret Keith Countess Marischal, and had issue.

In 1544 [his daughter] Margaret Campbell was born to Archibald Campbell 4th (age 37) and [his wife] Margaret Graham Countess Argyll. She married 10th January 1563 her half third cousin once removed James Stewart 1st Lord Doune and had issue.

After May 1544 [his brother-in-law] John Gordon 11th Earl Sutherland (age 19) and [his sister] Elizabeth Campbell Countess Moray and Sutherland were married. She the daughter of [his father] Colin Campbell 3rd Earl Argyll and [his mother] Jean or Janet Gordon Countess Argyll. They were second cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 4th May 1546 Elizabeth Sutherland 10th Countess Sutherland died. Her grandson [his brother-in-law] John (age 21) succeeded 11th Earl Sutherland. [his sister] Elizabeth Campbell Countess Moray and Sutherland by marriage Countess Sutherland.

Tudor Tracts Chapter 4. [10th September 1547]. We came on speedily a both sides; neither, as yet, one whit ware [aware] of [the] other's intent" but the Scots indeed at a rounder pace.

On or after 14th October 1551 [his son] Colin Campbell 6th Earl Argyll (age 7) and [his daughter-in-law] Joan Stewart Countess Argyll were married. He the son of Archibald Campbell 4th Earl Argyll (age 44) and [his wife] Margaret Graham Countess Argyll. They were second cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 2nd December 1558 Archibald Campbell 4th (age 51) died. His son Archibald (age 24) succeeded 5th Earl Argyll.
