On 19th January 1511 [his father] John Stewart 3rd Earl Lennox (age 21) and [his mother] Isabel or Elizabeth Stewart Countess Lennox (age 16) were married. She by marriage Countess Lennox. She the daughter of [his grandfather] John Stewart 1st Earl Atholl (age 71) and [his grandmother] Eleanor Sinclair Countess Atholl (age 54). He the son of [his grandfather] Matthew Stewart 2nd Earl Lennox and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Lennox (age 36). They were half first cousin twice removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
Around 1522 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March was born to John Stewart 3rd Earl Lennox (age 32) and Isabel or Elizabeth Stewart Countess Lennox (age 27) at Dumbarton Castle, Dunbarton.
On 4th September 1526 the Battle of Linlithgow Bridge was fought between supporters of Margaret Tudor Queen Scotland (age 36), the king's mother, commanded by [his father] John Stewart 3rd Earl Lennox (age 36) and supporters of Archibald Douglas 6th Earl Angus (age 37) commanded by James Hamilton 1st Earl Arran (age 51), over who would have control over King James V of Scotland (age 14) in his minority.
John Stewart 3rd Earl Lennox was killed possibly after surrendering. His son [his brother] Matthew (age 9) succeeded 4th Earl Lennox.
William Cunningham 4th Earl Glencairn (age 33) was captured.
On 25th November 1564 [his mother] Isabel or Elizabeth Stewart Countess Lennox (age 69) died.
On 16th June 1578 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March (age 56) was created 1st Earl Lennox.
On 6th January 1579 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March (age 57) and Elizabeth Stewart Countess Arran Countess Lennox and March (age 30) were married. She by marriage Countess Lennox. The difference in their ages was 27 years. She the daughter of John Stewart 4th Earl Atholl and Elizabeth Gordon Countess Atholl. He the son of John Stewart 3rd Earl Lennox and Isabel or Elizabeth Stewart Countess Lennox. They were first cousin twice removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward III of England.
On 25th April 1579 [his father-in-law] John Stewart 4th Earl Atholl died. His son [his brother-in-law] John (age 15) succeeded 5th Earl Atholl. Mary Ruthven Countess Atholl by marriage Countess Atholl.
On 5th March 1580 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March (age 58) resigned Earl Lennox. On the same day he was created 1st Earl March. [his wife] Elizabeth Stewart Countess Arran Countess Lennox and March (age 31) by marriage Countess March.
On the same day Esme Stewart 1st Duke Lennox (age 38) was created 1st Earl Lennox by King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland (age 13) for being his favourite. Catherine Balsac Duchess Lennox by marriage Lord Aubigny.
On 19th May 1581 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March (age 59) and Elizabeth Stewart Countess Arran Countess Lennox and March (age 32) were divorced.
After 19th May 1581 James Stewart 1st Earl Arran and [his former wife] Elizabeth Stewart Countess Arran Countess Lennox and March (age 32) were married. She by marriage Countess Arran. She the daughter of [his former father-in-law] John Stewart 4th Earl Atholl and Elizabeth Gordon Countess Atholl. They were half fourth cousins.
On 29th March 1586 Robert Stewart 1st Earl Lennox 1st Earl March (age 64) died.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
