On 27th July 1742 Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 24] and Caroline Sackville Lady Milton were married. She the daughter of Lionel Cranfield Sackville 1st Duke Dorset [aged 54] and Elizabeth Colyear Duchess Dorset [aged 53].
In 25th June 1744 [his son] John Damer was born to Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 26] and [his wife] Caroline Sackville Lady Milton. He married 14th June 1767 Anne Seymour-Conway, daughter of Field Marshal Henry Seymour-Conway and Caroline Campbell Countess Elgin and Ailesbury.
On 28th March 1746 [his son] George Damer 2nd Earl Dorchester was born to Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 28] and [his wife] Caroline Sackville Lady Milton.
On 5th June 1753 Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 35] was created 1st Baron Milton of Shronehill in Tipperary.

His son [his brother-in-law] Charles [aged 54] succeeded 2nd Duke Dorset, 8th Earl Dorset, 3rd Earl Middlesex, 8th Baron Buckhurst, 3rd Baron Cranfield of Cranfield in Middlesex.
On 14th June 1767 John Damer [aged 22] and Anne Seymour-Conway [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of Field Marshal Henry Seymour-Conway [aged 46] and Caroline Campbell Countess Elgin and Ailesbury [aged 46]. He the son of Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 49] and Caroline Sackville Lady Milton.
On 5th January 1769 [his brother-in-law] Charles Sackville 2nd Duke Dorset [aged 57] died. His nephew John [aged 23] succeeded 3rd Duke Dorset, 9th Earl Dorset, 4th Earl Middlesex, 9th Baron Buckhurst, 4th Baron Cranfield of Cranfield in Middlesex.
Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

In 15th August 1776 [his son] John Damer [aged 32] shot himself at the Bedford Arms Covent Garden being heavily in debt.
On 15th May 1792 Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 74] was created 1st Earl Dorchester. His London townhouse Dorchester House Park Lane is named after his Earldom.
On 12th January 1798 Joseph Damer 1st Earl Dorchester [aged 79] died. His son George [aged 51] succeeded 2nd Earl Dorchester, 2nd Baron Milton of Shronehill in Tipperary, 2nd Baron Milton of Milton Abbey in Dorset.
