On 23rd March 1865 [his uncle] Henry Pollard Willoughby 3rd Baronet [aged 68] died unmarried. His brother [his father] John [aged 65] succeeded 4th Baronet Willoughby of Baldon House in Oxfordshire.
On 15th September 1866 [his father] John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet [aged 67] died. His son John [aged 7] succeeded 5th Baronet Willoughby of Baldon House in Oxfordshire.
In 1879 John Christopher Willoughby 5th Baronet [aged 19] became a Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion Oxford Light Infantry.
In 1880 John Christopher Willoughby 5th Baronet [aged 20] joined the Royal Horse Guards.
In 1882 John Christopher Willoughby 5th Baronet [aged 22] served in the Egyptian campaign in 1882 (awarded medal with clasp, and bronze star), in the Nile expedition in 1884–1885 (mentioned in despatches), and with the British South Africa Company's Force in Matabeleland in 1893.
On 16th April 1918 John Christopher Willoughby 5th Baronet [aged 59] died. He was buried at Kensal Green Cemetery [Map]. Baronet Willoughby of Baldon House in Oxfordshire extinct.
