Around 1357 Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby was born to William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby [aged 26] and Elizabeth Fitzalan [aged 37].

Before 1362 [her future husband] John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 24] and Maud Percy Baroness Neville Raby were married. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Battle of Auray

On 29th September 1364 Battle of Auray decided the Breton Succession in favour of John Montfort V Duke Brittany [aged 25]. The Breton and English army was commanded by John Chandos [aged 44] and included [her father] William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby [aged 34], Miles Stapleton [aged 44] and Hugh Calverley [aged 40]. Charles of Blois Duke Brittany [aged 45] was killed. Bertrand Geusclin [aged 44] surrendered.

On 5th August 1367 Ralph Neville 2nd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 76] died. His succeeded son [her future husband] John [aged 30] succeeded 3rd Baron Neville Raby. Maud Percy Baroness Neville Raby by marriage Baroness Neville Raby.

Before 1st October 1369 [her future husband] Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 20] and Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 30] were married. They were sixth cousins.

On 29th March 1372 John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby [aged 49] died. His succeeded son [her future husband] Robert [aged 23] succeeded 4th Baron Willoughby de Eresby. Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 33] by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby: In 1323 he was born to John Willoughby 2nd Baron Willoughby and Joan Roscelyn Baroness Willoughby and Latimer at Willoughby-on-the-Wolds, Nottinghamshire [Map]. Before 1349 John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby and Cecily Ufford Baroness Willoughby of Eresby were married. When John married Cecily he changed his arms from Willoughby Arms to Willoughby de Eresby Arms. She the daughter of Robert Ufford 1st Earl Suffolk and Margaret Norwich Countess Suffolk.

Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby: Around 1339 she was born to William Zouche 2nd Baron Zouche Harringworth and Elizabeth Ros Baroness Zouche Harringworth. Before 1st October 1369 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby and she were married. They were sixth cousins. On 18th October 1391 Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby died.

On 28th May 1381 [her father] William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby [aged 51] died. He was buried at Guisborough Priory [Map]. His succeeded daughter Elizabeth [aged 24] succeeded 5th Baroness Latimer of Corby.

Before 9th October 1381 John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 44] and Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Baroness Neville Raby. The difference in their ages was 20 years. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Before 15th October 1381 William Deincourt 3rd Baron Deincourt [aged 23] and [her step-daughter] Alice Neville Baroness Deincourt [aged 23] were married. Alice Neville Baroness Deincourt by marriage Baroness Deincourt. They were third cousin twice removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

Around 1382 [her son] John Neville 6th Baron Latimer of Corby was born to [her husband] John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 45] and Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 25]. He married (1) before 24th July 1406 his second cousin twice removed Maud Clifford Countess Cambridge, daughter of Thomas Clifford 6th Baron Clifford and Elizabeth Ros Baroness Clifford.

Memoires of Jacques du Clercq

This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

Around 1384 [her daughter] Elizabeth Neville was born to [her husband] John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 47] and Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 27]. She married before July 1396 her fifth cousin Thomas Willoughby, son of Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby and Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby, and had issue.

On 17th October 1388 [her husband] John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 51] died. His succeeded son [her step-son] Ralph [aged 24] succeeded 4th Baron Neville Raby. Margaret Stafford Baroness Neville Raby [aged 24] by marriage Baroness Neville Raby.

After 17th October 1388 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 39] and Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 31] were married. She by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby. They were fifth cousin once removed.

Around 3rd January 1389 [her mother] Elizabeth Fitzalan [aged 69] died.

On 5th November 1395 Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 38] died. Her succeeded son John Neville 6th Baron Latimer of Corby [aged 13] succeeded 6th Baron Latimer of Corby.

Before July 1396 [her son-in-law] Thomas Willoughby [aged 16] and [her daughter] Elizabeth Neville [aged 12] were married. They were step-brother and sister since his father [her former husband] Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 47] married her mother Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby in 1388. They were fifth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 9th August 1396 [her former husband] Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 47] died. His succeeded son [her former step-son] William [aged 26] succeeded 5th Baron Willoughby de Eresby. Lucy Strange Baroness Willoughby Eresby by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

After 9th August 1396 [her former husband] Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [deceased] was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map] with his third wife Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby. Early Plate Bascinet Period. Remarkable helm on which the Baron's head rests with a Bearded Man crest, or a man's bust ducally crowned. Excellent orle around the Baron's bascinet.
