On 17th September 1685 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney was born to Robert Marsham 4th Baronet [aged 34] and Margaret Bosvile.
In 1696 John Marsham 3rd Baronet died. His uncle [his father] Robert [aged 45] succeeded 4th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent and inherited The Mote, Maidstone.
In 1701 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 15] was educated at St John's College, Oxford University.
On 25th July 1703 [his father] Robert Marsham 4th Baronet [aged 52] died. His son Robert [aged 17] succeeded 5th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent.
In 1708 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 22] was elected MP Maidstone.
On 19th August 1708 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 22] and Elizabeth Shovell Baroness Romney were married.
On 5th August 1711 [his daughter] Elizabeth Marsham Viscountess Fokestone was born to Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 25] and [his wife] Elizabeth Shovell Baroness Romney. She married 21st April 1741 Jacob Bouverie 1st Viscount Folkestone, son of William des Bouverie 1st Baronet and Anne Urry Lady Bouverie, and had issue.
In 1712 [his son] Robert Marsham 2nd Baron Romney was born to Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 26] and [his wife] Elizabeth Shovell Baroness Romney. He married before 28th September 1744 Priscilla Pym Baroness Romney and had issue.
Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

In 1723 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 37] was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
On 28th November 1724 Robert Marsham 1st Baron Romney [aged 39] died. His son Robert [aged 12] succeeded 2nd Baron Romney, 6th Baronet Marsham of Cuckston in Kent.
