On 25th May 1699 Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington was born to George Byng 1st Viscount Torrington [aged 36].

On 21st September 1721 [his father] George Byng 1st Viscount Torrington [aged 58] was created 1st Viscount Torrington.

On 31st October 1723 Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 24] was elected MP Plymouth.

On 11th June 1724 Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 25] and Charlotte Montagu Viscountess Torrington [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Charles Montagu 1st Duke Manchester and Doddington Greville Duchess Manchester.

In 1727 Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 27] was elected MP Bedfordshire.

In 1728 [his son] George Byng was born to Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 28] and [his wife] Charlotte Montagu Viscountess Torrington [aged 23]. He died aged two in 1730.

On 17th May 1730 [his son] George Byng [aged 2] died.

On 17th January 1733 [his father] George Byng 1st Viscount Torrington [aged 69] died. His son Pattee [aged 33] succeeded 2nd Viscount Torrington. [his wife] Charlotte Montagu Viscountess Torrington [aged 28] by marriage Viscountess Torrington.

On 3rd April 1735 [his brother-in-law] Robert Montagu 3rd Duke Manchester [aged 25] and Harriet Dunch Duchess Manchester were married. He the son of Charles Montagu 1st Duke Manchester and Doddington Greville Duchess Manchester.

On 9th December 1735 [his son] Frederick Byng was born to Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 36] and [his wife] Charlotte Montagu Viscountess Torrington [aged 30]. He died aged less than one years old.

On 10th January 1736 [his son] Frederick Byng died.

Before 21st October 1739 [his brother-in-law] William Montagu 2nd Duke Manchester [aged 39] and Isabella Montagu Duchess Manchester [aged 33] were married. She by marriage Duchess Manchester. She the daughter of John Montagu 2nd Duke Montagu [aged 49] and Mary Churchill Duchess of Montagu [aged 50]. He the son of Charles Montagu 1st Duke Manchester and Doddington Greville Duchess Manchester. They were fourth cousins.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

On 21st October 1739 [his brother-in-law] William Montagu 2nd Duke Manchester [aged 39] died. His brother Robert [aged 29] succeeded 3rd Duke Manchester, 6th Earl Manchester, 6th Viscount Mandeville, 6th Baron Montagu of Kimbolton. Harriet Dunch Duchess Manchester by marriage Duchess Manchester.

On 23rd January 1747 Pattee Byng 2nd Viscount Torrington [aged 47] died. He was buried at Bing Vault, All Saints Church, Southill. His brother George [aged 45] succeeded 3rd Viscount Torrington.

On 17th February 1759 [his former wife] Charlotte Montagu Viscountess Torrington [aged 54] died. She was buried at Bing Vault, All Saints Church, Southill.
