Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. This book presents a new translation of that letter, with additional material from other contemporary sources such as Letters, Hall's and Wriothesley's Chronicles, the pamphlets of Wynkyn the Worde, the Memorial of George Constantyne, the Portuguese Letter and the Baga de Secrets, all of which are provided in Appendices.

Letice Clifford 1570-1611

Around 1570 Letice Clifford was born to Henry Clifford of Keston in Huntingdonshire.

Before 1599 Thomas Malby of London and Letice Clifford [aged 28] were married.

Before 1600 John Rotherham of Semers in Buckinghamshire and Letice Clifford [aged 29] were married.

In 1601 Charles Montagu [aged 37] and Letice Clifford [aged 31] were married.

On 1st June 1601 Henry Montagu 1st Earl Manchester [aged 38] and Catherine Spencer [aged 15] were married. The difference in their ages was 23 years.

On 29th March 1608 Bishop James Montagu [aged 40] was elected Bishop of Bath and Wells.

On 29th August 1611 Letice Clifford [aged 41] died. She was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map].

In 1612 Charles Montagu [aged 48] and Mary Whitmore [aged 37] were married.

On 11th September 1625 Charles Montagu [aged 61] died at Barking, Essex. He was buried in Church of St Margaret of Antioch, Barking [Map].
