In 1691 Claud Hamilton 4th Earl Abercorn [aged 32] died. His brother Charles [aged 31] succeeded 5th Earl Abercorn.

In June 1701 Charles Hamilton 5th Earl Abercorn [aged 41] died in Strabane without issue. His second cousin James [aged 40] succeeded 6th Earl Abercorn.

On 28th November 1734 James Hamilton 6th Earl Abercorn [aged 73] died. His son James [aged 48] succeeded 7th Earl Abercorn. Anne Plumer Countess Abercorn [aged 44] by marriage Countess Abercorn.

On 11th January 1744 James Hamilton 7th Earl Abercorn [aged 57] died. His son James [aged 31] succeeded 8th Earl Abercorn.

On 9th October 1789 James Hamilton 8th Earl Abercorn [aged 76] died. His nephew John [aged 33] succeeded 9th Earl Abercorn. Catherine Moyle Marchioness Abercorn [aged 29] by marriage Countess Abercorn.

On 27th January 1818 John Hamilton 1st Marquess Abercorn [aged 61] died. His grandson James [aged 7] succeeded 2nd Marquess Abercorn, 10th Earl Abercorn.

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 3rd January 1913 James Hamilton 2nd Duke of Abercorn [aged 74] died. His son James [aged 43] succeeded 3rd Duke Abercorn, 4th Marquess Abercorn, 12th Earl Abercorn. Rosalind Cecilia Caroline Bingham Duchess Abercorn [aged 43] by marriage Duchess Abercorn.

On 12th September 1953 James Albert Edward Hamilton 3rd Duke of Abercorn [aged 83] died. His son James [aged 49] succeeded 4th Duke Abercorn, 4th Marquess Hamilton, 5th Marquess Abercorn, 13th Earl Abercorn. Kathleen Hamilton Duchess of Abercorn [aged 48] by marriage Duchess Abercorn.
