Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. This book presents a new translation of that letter, with additional material from other contemporary sources such as Letters, Hall's and Wriothesley's Chronicles, the pamphlets of Wynkyn the Worde, the Memorial of George Constantyne, the Portuguese Letter and the Baga de Secrets, all of which are provided in Appendices.

On 13th December 1404 Albert Wittelsbach I Duke Lower Bavaria [aged 68] died at The Hague. His son William [aged 39] succeeded IV Count Holland, VI Count Hainaut, V Count Zeeland. Margaret Valois Countess Holland [aged 30] by marriage Countess Holland.

On 4th September 1596 Constantijn Huygens was born at The Hague.

Around 1625 Hendrick Danckerts was born at The Hague.

On 5th October 1625 Edward Palatinate Simmern was born to Frederick Palatinate Simmern V Elector Palatine Rhine [aged 29] and Princess Elizabeth Stewart Queen Bohemia [aged 29] at The Hague. He a grandson of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland. He married 24th April 1645 his fourth cousin twice removed Anne Marie Gonzaga, daughter of Charles Gonzaga I Duke Mantua.

Before 4th March 1635 Emilia Nassau Beverweert Countess Ossory was born to Louis Nassau Beverweert [aged 33] in The Hague. On 4th March 1635 Emilia Nassau Beverweert Countess Ossory was baptised. She married 14th November 1659 Thomas Butler 6th Earl Ossory, son of James Butler 1st Duke Ormonde and Elizabeth Preston Duchess Ormonde, and had issue.

John Evelyn's Diary. 26th May 1641, I passed by a straight and commodious river through Delft to Hague; in which journey I observed divers leprous poor creatures dwelling in sohtary huts on the brink of the water, and permitted to ask the charity of passengers, which is conveyed to them in a floating box that they cast out.

John Evelyn's Diary. 27th May 1641. Arrived at Hague, I went first to the Queen of Bohemia's [aged 44] Court, where I had the honour to kiss her Majesty's hand, and several of the Princesses' her daughters. Prince Maurice [aged 20] was also there, newly come out of Germany, and my Lord Finch [aged 19], not long before fled out of England from the fury of the Parliament. It was a fasting-day with the Queen for the unfortunate death of her husband, and the presence-chamber had been hung with black velvet ever since his decease.

In 1644 Simon Pietersz Verelst was born to Pieter Hermansz Verelst [aged 26] at The Hague.

In 1648 King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 17] travelled to where his sister Mary Stewart Princess Orange [aged 16] and brother in law William Orange Nassau II Prince Orange [aged 21] were living at The Hague.

Around 1648 Daniel Mijtens [aged 58] died in The Hague.

On 6th May 1651 Mary Walters was born illegitimately to King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 20] and Lucy Walter [aged 21] at The Hague. King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland didn't acknowledge her. Her father is some somewhat speculative; he may have been Theobald Taaffe 1st Earl Carlingford [aged 48] or Henry Bennet 1st Earl Arlington [aged 33].

On 28th February 1665 Louis Nassau Beverweert [aged 63] died at The Hague.

The London Gazette 662. 21st March 1672. The Hague. 1672 Attack on the Smyrna Fleet. Most of our Smirna Fleet are arrived in Zealand and in the Maes, together with the Mep of war, under whose Convoy they were, though extremely torn and very much disabled five of our Merchant men were taken bythe English-two of which were the richest in the Fleet, laden with Silks and other rich Commodities, and were called the Landtman oi Amsterdam, and the Vrede of Rotterdam, besides one of our men of War, called the Little Holland, mounted with 44 Guns and 150 men J Captain de Hies Admiral of this Fleet was killed in this engagement, with many of our men, and many more wounded, who have been since brought a shore at Rotterdam and other places. The men of War which served for Convoys to the said Fleet were.

In 1673 Henry Nassau 1st Earl Grantham was born to Henry de Nassau Lord Overkirk [aged 33] at The Hague. He married 12th January 1697 his first cousin Henrietta Butler Countess Grantham, daughter of Thomas Butler 6th Earl Ossory and Emilia Nassau Beverweert Countess Ossory, and had issue.

On 5th January 1701 Joshua Vanneck 1st Baronet was born at The Hague.

In April 1704 William Cadogan 1st Earl Cadogan [aged 32] and Margaret Cecilia Munter Countess Cadogan were married at The Hague.

On 4th December 1719 Charles Lennox 2nd Duke Richmond [aged 18] and Sarah Cadogan Duchess Richmond [aged 14] were married at The Hague. He was, apparently, forced into the marriage to pay off his, or his father's debts since she brought a considerable dowry. She the daughter of William Cadogan 1st Earl Cadogan [aged 47] and Margaret Cecilia Munter Countess Cadogan. He the son of Charles Lennox 1st Duke Richmond [aged 47] and Anne Brudenell Duchess Richmond [aged 48].

On 8th March 1748 Prince William of Orange was born to Prince William of Orange [aged 36] and Princess Anne Hanover [aged 38] at The Hague. He a grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.

On 18th December 1760 Georg Wilhelm Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg [aged 25] and Carolina Orange Nassau [aged 17] at The Hague. He a great grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. He died aged one in 1762.

On 12th December 1761 Wilhelm Ludwig Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg [aged 26] and Carolina Orange Nassau [aged 18] at The Hague. He a great grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. He died aged eight in 1770.

On 5th February 1764 Augusta Carolina Maria Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg [aged 29] and Carolina Orange Nassau [aged 20] at The Hague. She a great granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.

On 28th September 1765 Wilhelmine Luise Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg [aged 30] and Carolina Orange Nassau [aged 22] at The Hague. He a great grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.

On 14th September 1830 Prince Albert Hohenzollern [aged 20] and Marianne Orange Nassau [aged 20] were married at The Hague. He the son of Frederick William III King Prussia [aged 60] and Queen Louise of Prussia. They were fourth cousins. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
