There have been two creations of Baron Sutton:

1st. 20th July 1332. John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton. Extinct. 5th May 1356.

2nd. 1342. John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton. Extinct. 28th August 1406.

Baron Sutton of Holderness 1st Creation 1332

Summary

20th July 1332. John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton [aged 62] created.

1338. Son John Sutton 2nd Baron Sutton [aged 30] succeeded.

5th May 1356. John Sutton 2nd Baron Sutton extinct.

On 20th July 1332 John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton [aged 62] was created 1st Baron Sutton of Holderness. Constantia Sampson Baroness Lexington [aged 59] by marriage Baroness Lexinton of Aram in Nottinghamshire.

In 1338 John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton [aged 67] died at Holderness. His son John [aged 30] succeeded 2nd Baron Sutton of Holderness although it isn't clear whether he was summoned to Parliament.

On 5th May 1356 John Sutton 2nd Baron Sutton [aged 48] died. Baron Sutton of Holderness extinct.

Baron Sutton of Dudley 2nd Creation 1342

In 1342 John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton [aged 32] was created 1st Baron Sutton of Dudley. Isabella Charleton Baroness Sutton Dudley by marriage Baroness Sutton of Dudley.

On 25th December 1357 John Sutton 2nd Baron Sutton [aged 18] and Katherine Stafford Baroness Sutton Dudley [aged 9] were married. She by marriage Baroness Sutton of Dudley. She the daughter of Ralph Stafford 1st Earl Stafford [aged 56] and Margaret Audley Countess Stafford. They were half third cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Edward I of England.

On 21st November 1359 John Sutton 1st Baron Sutton [aged 49] died. His son John [aged 20] de jure 2nd Baron Sutton of Dudley although he was never summoned to Parliament.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

Around 1370 John Sutton 2nd Baron Sutton [aged 31] died. His son John [aged 8] de jure 3rd Baron Sutton of Dudley although he was never summoned to Parliament.

Before 1392 John Sutton 3rd Baron Sutton [aged 30] and Alice Despencer Baroness Sutton Dudley were married. She by marriage Baroness Sutton of Dudley.

After 1392 John Sutton 3rd Baron Sutton [aged 30] and Joan Unknown Baroness Sutton Dudley were married. She by marriage Baroness Sutton of Dudley.

On 10th March 1396 John Sutton 3rd Baron Sutton [aged 34] died at Coleshill, Warwickshire. His son John [aged 16] de jure 4th Baron Sutton of Dudley although he was never summoned to Parliament.

Before 25th December 1400 John Sutton 4th Baron Sutton [aged 20] and Constance Blount Baroness Sutton Dudley [aged 20] were married. She by marriage Baroness Sutton of Dudley.

On 28th August 1406 John Sutton 4th Baron Sutton [aged 26] died. Baron Sutton of Dudley extinct. He and the previous three barons were never summoned to Parliament.
