Around 1515 William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham was born to Christopher Willoughby 1481-1539 [aged 34] and Elizabeth Tailboys 1490-1546 [aged 25].

Before 1536 William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham [aged 20] and Elizabeth Heneage Baroness Willoughby of Parham 1518-1555 [aged 17] were married.

In 1537 [his son] Charles Willoughby 2nd Baron Willoughby of Parham was born to William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham [aged 22] and [his wife] Elizabeth Heneage Baroness Willoughby of Parham 1518-1555 [aged 19]. He married before 1611 his fourth cousin twice removed Margaret Clinton Baroness Willoughby 1539-, daughter of Edward Clinton 1st Earl Lincoln and Elizabeth "Bessie" Blount Baroness Clinton and Tailboys, and had issue.

Around 1539 [his father] Christopher Willoughby 1481-1539 [aged 58] died.

In 1539 or 1541 Walter Devereux 1st Viscount Hereford [aged 51] and [his future wife] Margaret Garneys Viscountess Hereford [aged 19] were married. She by marriage Baroness Ferrers of Chartley. The difference in their ages was 32 years.

In 1546 [his mother] Elizabeth Tailboys 1490-1546 [aged 56] died at Pelham, Suffolk.

Diary of Edward VI. 31st January 1547. The next day, being the [31st] of [January], he was brought to the towre of London, whear he taried th'espace of three wekes; and in the mean season the counsel sat every day for the performaunce of the will1, and at length thought best that the erle of Hartford shuld be made Due of Somerset, sir Thomas Seimour Lord Sudley, the erle of Essex Marquis of Northampton [aged 35], and divers knights should be mad Barons, as the lord Sheffield [aged 25], with divers other.2 Also thei thought best to chose the duke of Somerset to be Protectour of the realm and Governour of the Kinges person during his minorite, to which al the gentlemen and lordes did agre becaus he was the Kinges oncle on his mother's side.3 Also in this time the late King was buried at Windsor with much solemnite, and th' officers broke their staves, hurling them into the grave.4 But thei were restored to them again when thei come to the towre.

7. sir William Willoughby [aged 32] to be Lord Willoughby of Parham; and

8. sir Edmund Sheffield to be Lord Sheffield of Butterwick. The ceremonial of their creations will be found in the Appendix.

Note 3. On the subject of the Protectorate the reader is referred to the Appendix. The duke was also constituted Lord Treasurer on the 10th of February, and the next day sworn in to that office before the lord chancellor in Westminster hall. He further became Earl Marshal (see the next page), both these high offices being vacated by the attainder of the duke of Norfolk.

Thomas Wriothesley 1st Earl of Southampton [aged 41] was created 1st Earl of Southampton in accordance with Henry VIII's will for which he was nominated executor. Jane Cheney Countess Southampton 1509-1574 [aged 38] by marriage Countess of Southampton.

Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset [aged 47] was created 1st Duke Somerset. Since he was Protector and head of the Privy Council at the time he effectively created himself Duke. Anne Stanhope Duchess Somerset [aged 50] by marriage Duchess Somerset.

William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham [aged 32] was created 1st Baron Willoughby Parham. [his wife] Elizabeth Heneage Baroness Willoughby of Parham 1518-1555 [aged 29] by marriage Baroness Willoughby Parham.

In 1550 Walter Devereux 1st Viscount Hereford [aged 62] was created 1st Viscount Hereford. [his future wife] Margaret Garneys Viscountess Hereford [aged 30] by marriage Viscountess Hereford.

Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. On 1st December 1555 [his wife] Elizabeth Heneage Baroness Willoughby of Parham 1518-1555 [aged 37] died.

On 20th August 1559 William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham [aged 44] and Margaret Garneys Viscountess Hereford [aged 39] were married. She by marriage Baroness Willoughby Parham.

Before 1566 [his step-son] Edward Devereux 1st Baronet 1544-1622 [aged 21] and Catherine Arden Baroness Devereux 1558-1627 [aged 7] were married.

On 30th July 1570 William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham [aged 55] died at Minting Park, East Lindsey. His succeeded son Charles [aged 33] succeeded 2nd Baron Willoughby Parham.

Before 21st July 1599 [his former wife] Margaret Garneys Viscountess Hereford [aged 79] died. On 21st July 1599 Margaret Garneys Viscountess Hereford was buried in St John the Baptist, Chartley Stowe.

[his father] Christopher Willoughby 1481-1539 and [his mother] Elizabeth Tailboys 1490-1546 were married. They were sixth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

[his daughter] Mary Willoughby was born to William Willoughby 1st Baron Willoughby of Parham and Elizabeth Heneage Baroness Willoughby of Parham 1518-1555.
