Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

William Bulkeley: Around 1418 he was born to Richard Bulkeley. In 1440 he was appointed Constable of Beaumaris Castle. Before 1444 he and Ellen Griffith were married. In 1488 he died.
Ellen Griffith: she was born to Guilim ap Griffith Griffith.







On 12th June 1795 Hugh Williams [aged 28] was killed at Grenada, Caribbean. Monument in St Marys and St Nicholas Church Beaumaris [Map].
Hugh Williams: On 20th March 1767 he was born to Hugh Williams 8th Baronet and Emma Bridget Rowlands Viscountess Bulkeley.

On 3rd June 1822 Thomas Warren-Bulkeley 7th Viscount Bulkeley [aged 69] died without issue. Viscount Bulkeley of Cashel in Tipperary, Baron Bulkeley Beaumaris Anglesey extinct. Monument in St Marys and St Nicholas Church Beaumaris [Map] sculpted by Richard Westmacott [aged 46].
Thomas Warren-Bulkeley 7th Viscount Bulkeley: On 12th December 1752 he was born to James Bulkeley 6th Viscount Bulkeley and Emma Bridget Rowlands Viscountess Bulkeley. On 23rd April 1753 James Bulkeley 6th Viscount Bulkeley died. His son Thomas succeeded 7th Viscount Bulkeley of Cashel in Tipperary. In April 1777 he and Elizabeth Warren Viscountess Bulkeley were married. She by marriage Viscountess Bulkeley of Cashel in Tipperary. On 11th May 1784 Thomas Warren-Bulkeley 7th Viscount Bulkeley was created 1st Baron Bulkeley Beaumaris Anglesey.







On 11th May 1829 Charlotte Mary Hughes Lady Williams died. Monument in St Marys and St Nicholas Church Beaumaris [Map]. Sculpted by John Ternouth [aged 33].
The inscription: In memory of Charlotte Mary, wife of Richard Bulkeley Williams Bulkeley of Baron Hill in this County, esquire and eldest daughter of William Lewis Hughes of Kinmel Park in Denbighshire, esquire, who died on the 11th of May, 1829 aged twenty three.
Er coffadwriaeth am Charlotte Mary, gwraig Richard Bulkeley Williams Bulkeley o'r Baron Hill yn y Sir yma, yswaen a merch hynaf William Lewis Hughes o'r Kinmel Park yn Sir Ddinbech, yswaen, yr hon a fu farw yr 11eg o fis Mai, 1829 yn dair blwydd ar hugain oed.
Charlotte Mary Hughes Lady Williams: she was born to William Lewis Hughes. Before 17th May 1829 Richard Williams-Bulkeley 10th Baronet and she were married. On 1st December 1830 Robert Williams 9th Baronet died. His son Richard succeeded 10th Baronet Williams of Penrhyn in Caernarfonshire. She by marriage Lady Williams.

After 1897. St Marys and St Nicholas Church Beaumaris [Map]. Monuments to Charles Philip "Champagne Charlie" Yorke 5th Earl of Hardwicke [aged 60], Albert Yorke 6th Earl of Hardwicke [aged 29] and Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley Countess Hardwicke [aged 56].
Charles Philip "Champagne Charlie" Yorke 5th Earl of Hardwicke: On 23rd April 1836 he was born to Charles Yorke 4th Earl of Hardwicke and Susan Liddell Countess Hardwicke. In 1863 he and Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley Countess Hardwicke were married. She the daughter of Henry Richard Charles Wellesley 1st Earl Cowley. He the son of Charles Yorke 4th Earl of Hardwicke and Susan Liddell Countess Hardwicke. On 18th May 1897 he died. His son Albert succeeded 6th Earl Hardwicke, 6th Viscount Royston.
Albert Yorke 6th Earl of Hardwicke: On 14th March 1867 he was born to Charles Philip "Champagne Charlie" Yorke 5th Earl of Hardwicke and Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley Countess Hardwicke. On 29th November 1904 he died unmarried. His uncle John succeeded 7th Earl Hardwicke, 7th Viscount Royston. Edith Mary Oswald Countess of Hardwicke by marriage Countess Hardwicke.
Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley Countess Hardwicke: On 3rd March 1840 she was born to Henry Richard Charles Wellesley 1st Earl Cowley. On 3rd June 1923 she died.
