She by marriage Countess Albemarle, Countess York. The difference in their ages was 37 years. He the son of [her grandfather] Stephen Blois Count Aumale and [her grandmother] Hawise Mortimer Countess Aumale.

Around 1166 Geoffrey Mandeville 2nd Earl Essex died. Geoffrey Mandeville 2nd Earl Essex was buried at Waldon Priory and Abbey [Map]. His brother [her future husband] William succeeded 3rd Earl Essex.

On 20th August 1179 [her father] William of Blois 1st Earl Albemarle 1st Earl York [aged 78] died. His daughter Hawise succeeded 2nd Countess Albemarle. Earl York extinct. The succession of the Earldom of York is somewhat unclear; it may have been created for life only, or for male succession only.

In 1180 William Mandeville 3rd Earl Essex Count Aumale and Hawise Blois 2nd Countess Albemarle and Essex were married. She by marriage Countess Essex. He by marriage Count Aumale. She the daughter of William of Blois 1st Earl Albemarle 1st Earl York and Cecily Skipton Countess Aumale and York [aged 42]. He the son of Geoffrey Mandeville 1st Earl Essex and Rohese Vere Countess Essex and Hertford.

On 6th July 1189 King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England [aged 56] died at Chinon Castle [Map]. [her husband] William Mandeville 3rd Earl Essex Count Aumale was present. He was buried at Fontevraud Abbey [Map]. His son Richard [aged 31] succeeded I King of England.

On 14th November 1189 [her husband] William Mandeville 3rd Earl Essex Count Aumale died at Rouen, France [Map]. He was buried at Mortemar Abbey. Earl Essex extinct.

In 1190 [her mother] Cecily Skipton Countess Aumale and York [aged 52] died.

After 3rd July 1190 William Forz 2nd Earl Albemarle and Hawise Blois 2nd Countess Albemarle and Essex were married. He by marriage Earl Albemarle 1C 1127. She the daughter of William of Blois 1st Earl Albemarle 1st Earl York and Cecily Skipton Countess Aumale and York.

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

In 1212 [her husband] Baldwin Béthune Count Aumale [aged 54] died.

On 11th March 1214 Hawise Blois 2nd Countess Albemarle and Essex died. Her son William succeeded 3rd Earl Albemarle 1C 1127.

[her daughter] Alice Béthune Countess Pembroke was born to Baldwin Béthune Count Aumale and Hawise Blois 2nd Countess Albemarle and Essex. She married September 1214 William "The Younger" Marshal 2nd Earl Pembroke, son of William Marshal 1st Earl Pembroke and Isabel Clare Countess Pembroke.

[her son] William Forz 3rd Earl Albemarle was born to William Forz 2nd Earl Albemarle and Hawise Blois 2nd Countess Albemarle and Essex. He married before 26th March 1242 Aveline Montfichet and had issue.
