She was a minor, and therefore much younger than her husband, who was now thirty-three. The ceremony was performed by the vicar, the Rev. Marmaduke Mathews, and the witnesses were Thomas Bentley and John Hands. The bride's first name is altered in the register from Sarah to Elizabeth.
