In 1678 William Pole 4th Baronet was born to John Pole 3rd Baronet [aged 28] and Anne Morice Lady Pole [aged 25].
Before 13th April 1695 [his grandfather] Courtenay Pole 2nd Baronet [aged 76] died. He was buried in Shute, Devon. His son [his father] John [aged 45] succeeded 3rd Baronet Pole of Shute House in Devon. [his mother] Anne Morice Lady Pole [aged 42] by marriage Lady Pole of Shute House in Devon.
On 7th July 1696 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 18] matriculated New College, Oxford University.
In 1701 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 23] was elected MP Newport.
On 17th January 1704 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 26] was elected MP Camelford at a by-election, which seat he retained in 1705.
In 1708 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 30] was elected MP Newport.
On 13th March 1708 [his father] John Pole 3rd Baronet [aged 58] died. His son William [aged 30] succeeded 4th Baronet Pole of Shute House in Devon.
In 1710 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 32] was elected MP Devon.
In 1712 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 34] was appointed Master of the Household.
In 1713 William Pole 4th Baronet [aged 35] was elected MP Bossiney.
Around 28th February 1713 [his mother] Anne Morice Lady Pole [aged 60] died.
Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke
Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.
