Biography of Henry Hobart 4th Baronet 1657-1698

Paternal Family Tree: Hobart

Around 1640 [his step-father] Robert Pye (age 20) and [his mother] Anne Hampden (age 15) were married.

In 1647 [his father] John Hobart 3rd Baronet (age 18) and Philippa Hobart (age 11) were married. They were first cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.

On 20 Apr 1647 John Hobart 2nd Baronet (age 54) died. His nephew [his father] John Hobart 3rd Baronet (age 19) succeeded 3rd Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk.

In Jun 1656 [his father] John Hobart 3rd Baronet (age 28) and [his step-mother] Mary Hampden (age 26) were married at St Giles' Field Holborn.

In 1657 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet was born to John Hobart 3rd Baronet (age 28) and Anne Hampden (age 32).

In 1671 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 14) was knighted by King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 40) at Blickling, Norfolk.

Before 01 Jul 1690 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 33) was appointed Gentleman of the Horse to King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 39).

Battle of the Boyne

                    On 01 Jul 1690 the Battle of the Boyne was fought between the armies of Protestant King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 39) and Catholic King James II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 56).                

                    The English army was commanded by Frederick Schomberg 1st Duke Schomberg (age 74).
                
                    The English or Protestant army included Richard Lumley 1st Earl Scarborough (age 40), Osmund Mordaunt and Henry Sidney 1st Earl Romney (age 49).                

                    For the Irish or Catholic army James Fitzjames 1st Duke Berwick (age 19) and Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 33) fought. Richard Hamilton was captured.                

                    Drury Wray 9th Baronet (age 56) fought for James II for which he subsequently forfeit his lands.

In 1691 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 34) was appointed Vice Admiral: Norfolk.

On 11 Oct 1693 [his son] John Hobart 1st Earl Buckinghamshire was born to Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 36) and [his wife] Elizabeth Maynard Lady Hobart.

In 1694 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 37) was elected MP Bere Alston.

In 1695 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 38) was elected MP Norfolk.

On 20 Aug 1698 Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 41) died from wounds he had received in a duel with Oliver le Neve (age 36) at Cawston Heath, Norfolk. His son [his son] John Hobart 1st Earl Buckinghamshire (age 4) succeeded 5th Baronet Hobart of Intwood in Norfolk.

On 20 Aug 1698 Oliver le Neve (age 36) and Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 41) fought a duel at Cawston Heath, Norfolk. Henry Hobart 4th Baronet (age 41) received a fatal wound; he died the next day.

[his daughter] Catherine Hobart was born to Henry Hobart 4th Baronet and Elizabeth Maynard Lady Hobart.
