He the son of [his grandfather] William "Lord Dashalong" Molyneux 2nd Earl Sefton [aged 61] and [his grandmother] Maria Margaret Craven Countess Sefton.

On 14th October 1835 William Molyneux 4th Earl Sefton was born to Charles William Molyneux 3rd Earl Sefton [aged 39] and Mary Augusta Gregg-Hopwood Countess Sefton [aged 21].

On 20th November 1838 [his grandfather] William "Lord Dashalong" Molyneux 2nd Earl Sefton [aged 66] died. His son [his father] Charles [aged 42] succeeded 3rd Earl Sefton, 10th Viscount Molyneux, 11th Baronet Molyneux of Sefton.

On 2nd August 1855 [his father] Charles William Molyneux 3rd Earl Sefton [aged 59] died. His son William [aged 19] succeeded 4th Earl Sefton, 11th Viscount Molyneux, 12th Baronet Molyneux of Sefton. [his future wife] Cecil Emily Jolliffe Countess Sefton [aged 17] by marriage Countess Sefton.

On 18th July 1866 William Molyneux 4th Earl Sefton [aged 30] and Cecil Emily Jolliffe Countess Sefton [aged 28] were married. She by marriage Countess Sefton. He the son of Charles William Molyneux 3rd Earl Sefton and Mary Augusta Gregg-Hopwood Countess Sefton [aged 52].

25th June 1867 [his son] Charles William Hylton Molyneux 5th Earl Sefton was born to William Molyneux 4th Earl Sefton [aged 31] and [his wife] Cecil Emily Jolliffe Countess Sefton [aged 29].

On 1st July 1868 [his daughter] Gertrude Eleanor Molyneux was born to William Molyneux 4th Earl Sefton [aged 32] and [his wife] Cecil Emily Jolliffe Countess Sefton [aged 30].

On 9th February 1870 [his daughter] Rose Mary Molyneux was born to William Molyneux 4th Earl Sefton [aged 34] and [his wife] Cecil Emily Jolliffe Countess Sefton [aged 32].
