Earl of Yarmouth

There have been two creations of Earl of Yarmouth:

1st. 1679. Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth 1631-1683. Extinct. 25th December 1732.

2nd. 29th June 1793. Francis Seymour-Conway 1st Marquess Hertford 1718-1794. Extant.

Earl of Yarmouth 1st Creation 1679

Summary

1679. Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth created.

8th March 1683. Son William Paston 2nd Earl of Yarmouth succeeded.

25th December 1732. William Paston 2nd Earl of Yarmouth extinct.

John Evelyn's Diary. 22nd April 1656. Came to see Mr. Henshaw (age 38) and Sir William Paston's (age 46) son (age 24), since Earl of Yarmouth. Afterward, I went to see his Majesty's (age 25) house at Eltham [Map], both palace and chapel in miserable ruins, the noble woods and park destroyed by Rich (age 68), the rebel.

Before 1673 William Paston 2nd Earl of Yarmouth (age 18) and Charlotte Jemima Henrietta Maria Fitzroy Countess Yarmouth (age 22) were married. She by marriage Countess of Yarmouth. She the illegitmate daughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 42) and Elizabeth Killigrew Viscountess Shannon (age 50). He the son of Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth (age 41) and Rebecca Clayton Countess Yarmouth (age 37).

In 1679 Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth (age 47) was created 1st Earl of Yarmouth. Rebecca Clayton Countess Yarmouth (age 44) by marriage Countess of Yarmouth.

On 8th March 1683 Robert Paston 1st Earl of Yarmouth (age 51) died. His son William (age 29) succeeded 2nd Earl of Yarmouth, 3rd Baronet Paston of Paston and Oxnead.

On 25th December 1732 William Paston 2nd Earl of Yarmouth (age 78) died. Earl of Yarmouth and Baronet Paston of Paston and Oxnead extinct.

Earl of Yarmouth 2nd Creation 1793

The London Gazette 13541. Whitehall, June 29 [1793]. The King has been. pleased, to grant the Dignity of an Earl and Marquess of the Kingdom of Great Britain to the Right Honorable Francis Seymour Conway (age 74), Earl of Hertford, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully, begotten, by the Names, Stiles, and Titles of Earl of Yarmouth in the County of Norfolk, and Marquess of Hertford.

The King has also been, pleased to grant the Dignity of an Earl of the Kingdom of Great Britain to the Right Honorable Henry Lord Porchester (age 51), and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully, begotten by the Name, Stile and Title of Earl of the Town And County of Carnarvon, in the Principality of Wales. [Elizabeth Alicia Maria Wyndham Countess Carnarvon (age 40) by marriage Countess Carnarvon]

The King has been pleased to appoint George Poyntz Ricketts, Esq; to be Captain-General and Governor in Chief of the Island of Tobago.

The King has been pleased to approve of the Appointment of Lawrence Hansen, Esq; to be His Danish Majesty's Consul in the Town and Port of Liverpool, and in all other Ports in die County Palatine of Lancaster.

On 14th June 1794 Francis Seymour-Conway 1st Marquess Hertford (age 75) died. His son Francis (age 51) succeeded 2nd Marquess Hertford, 2nd Earl Hertford, 2nd Earl of Yarmouth, 2nd Viscount Beauchamp, 3rd Baron Conway of Ragley in Warwickshire, 3rd Baron Conway of Killultagh in Antrim. Isabella Anne Ingram Marchioness Hertford (age 35) by marriage Marchioness Hertford. The estate was worth £70000 a year, and included Ragley Hall, Alcester, Sudbourne Hall, Sudbourne and estates in Ireland.

On 23rd March 1912 Hugh de Grey Seymour-Conway 6th Marquess Hertford (age 68) died. On 23rd March 1912 His son George (age 41) succeeded 7th Marquess Hertford, 7th Earl Hertford, 7th Earl of Yarmouth, 7th Viscount Beauchamp, 8th Baron Conway of Ragley in Warwickshire, 8th Baron Conway of Killultagh in Antrim.

On 22nd December 1997 Hugh Seymour 8th Marquess Hertford (age 67) died. His son Henry (age 39) succeeded 9th Marquess Hertford, 9th Earl Hertford, 9th Earl of Yarmouth, 9th Viscount Beauchamp, 10th Baron Conway of Ragley in Warwickshire, 10th Baron Conway of Killultagh in Antrim.
