Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

She by marriage Countess Kildare. He the son of [her grandfather] Gerald Fitzgerald 8th Earl of Kildare [aged 47] and [her grandmother] Alice Fitzeustace Countess Kildare.
Around 1522 [her father] Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare [aged 35] and [her mother] Elizabeth Grey Countess Kildare [aged 25] were married. She by marriage Countess Kildare. She the daughter of [her grandfather] Thomas Grey 1st Marquess Dorset and [her grandmother] Cecily Bonville Marchioness Dorset [aged 61]. He the son of Gerald Fitzgerald 8th Earl of Kildare and Alice Fitzeustace Countess Kildare.
Before 1526 [her future husband] Anthony Browne [aged 25] and Alice Gage [aged 19] were married.
In 1527 Elizabeth "The Fair Geraldine" Fitzgerald Countess Lincoln was born to Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare [aged 40] and Elizabeth Grey Countess Kildare [aged 30].
On 12th December 1534, some sources say the 13th, [her father] Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare [aged 47] died whilst imprisoned at the Tower of London [Map]. He was buried at the St Peter ad Vincula Church, Tower of London [Map]. His son [her half-brother] Thomas [aged 21] succeeded 10th Earl Kildare. His son, and five of his brothers were executed just over two years later - see Execution of the Fitzgeralds.
Before 1536 [her future husband] Edward Clinton 1st Earl Lincoln [aged 23] and Elizabeth "Bessie" Blount Baroness Clinton and Tailboys [aged 37] were married. She by marriage Baroness Clinton. The date based on the birth of their first child Bridget Clinton.
On 3rd February 1537 six members of the Fitzgerald family, nephew and five uncles, [her half-brother] Thomas "Silken" Fitzgerald 10th Earl of Kildare [aged 24], James Fitzgerald [aged 41], Oliver Fitzgerald [aged 41], Richard Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald and Walter Fitzgerald [aged 41] were executed at Tyburn [Map].
After 31st March 1540 Anthony Browne [aged 40] and Elizabeth "The Fair Geraldine" Fitzgerald Countess Lincoln [aged 13] were married. The difference in their ages was 27 years. She the daughter of Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare and Elizabeth Grey Countess Kildare [aged 43]. They were second cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In or after 1541 [her future husband] Edward Clinton 1st Earl Lincoln [aged 29] and Ursula Stourton Baroness Clinton were married. She by marriage Baroness Clinton.
On 15th October 1542 [her brother-in-law] William Fitzwilliam 1st Earl of Southampton [aged 52] died at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland [Map]. Earl of Southampton extinct. [her husband] Anthony Browne [aged 42] inherited Cowdray House [Map].
Chronicle of Abbot Ralph of Coggeshall

On 1st October 1552 Edward Clinton 1st Earl Lincoln [aged 40] and Elizabeth "The Fair Geraldine" Fitzgerald Countess Lincoln [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare and Elizabeth Grey Countess Kildare. They were half fourth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 28th May 1554 [her brother] Gerald "Wizard Earl" Fitzgerald 11th Earl of Kildare [aged 29] and [her sister-in-law] Mabel Browne Countess Kildare [aged 18] were married at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. She by marriage Countess Kildare. He the son of [her father] Gerald Fitzgerald 9th Earl of Kildare and [her mother] Elizabeth Grey Countess Kildare. They were third cousins. On 1st January 1562 the New Years Gift Giving was held. Those who gave gifts provide an interesting who's who of the Elizabethan Court soon after Elizabeth I's Coronation. Queen Elizabeth [aged 28] was present since a number are described as "With the Qene her Majestie."

Lady Margaret Strange married Henry Stanley Lord Strange [aged 30] on 07 Feb 1555. In 1561 he had not succeeded to Earldom of Derby and was known by the courtesy title Lord Strange. She is listed first since she was one of the few remaining direct descendants of Henry VII, being a great-granddaughter by his daughter Mary Tudor. Margaret Clifford was first in line to succeed in 1568 but died in 1596 before Elizabeth I.

On 16th January 1585 [her husband] Edward Clinton 1st Earl Lincoln [aged 73] died at London. His son [her step-son] Henry [aged 44] succeeded 2nd Earl Lincoln, 10th Baron Clinton. Catherine Hastings Countess Lincoln [aged 42] by marriage Countess Lincoln.
On 16th November 1585 [her brother] Gerald "Wizard Earl" Fitzgerald 11th Earl of Kildare [aged 60] died. His son [her nephew] Henry [aged 23] succeeded 12th Earl Kildare.
