When John married Cecily he changed his arms from Willoughby Arms to Willoughby de Eresby Arms. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Robert Ufford 1st Earl Suffolk [aged 50] and [his grandmother] Margaret Norwich Countess Suffolk [aged 62].

Around 1349 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby was born to John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby [aged 26] and Cecily Ufford Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 22].

On 13th June 1349 [his grandfather] John Willoughby 2nd Baron Willoughby [aged 46] died. His son [his father] John [aged 26] succeeded 3rd Baron Willoughby de Eresby. [his mother] Cecily Ufford Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 22] by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

He was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map]. His wife [his grandmother] Joan Roscelyn Baroness Willoughby and Latimer [aged 41] subsequently buried with him. She wears a skirt and mantle.

Before 1st October 1369 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 20] and Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 30] were married. They were sixth cousins.

Around 1370 [his son] William Willoughby 5th Baron Willoughby was born to Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 21] and [his wife] Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 31]. He married 1. after 3rd January 1383 his third cousin Lucy Strange Baroness Willoughby Eresby, daughter of Roger Strange 5th Baron Strange Knockin and Aline Fitzalan Baroness Strange Knockin, and had issue 2. before 9th August 1404 his fifth cousin once removed Joan Holland Duchess York, daughter of Thomas Holland 2nd Earl Kent and Alice Fitzalan Countess Kent.

Before 29th March 1372 [his mother] Cecily Ufford Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 45] died.

On 29th March 1372 [his father] John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby [aged 49] died. His son Robert [aged 23] succeeded 4th Baron Willoughby de Eresby. [his wife] Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 33] by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

He was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map]. Early Plate Bascinet Period.

John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby: In 1323 he was born to John Willoughby 2nd Baron Willoughby and Joan Roscelyn Baroness Willoughby and Latimer at Willoughby-on-the-Wolds, Nottinghamshire [Map]. Before 1349 John Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby and Cecily Ufford Baroness Willoughby of Eresby were married. When John married Cecily he changed his arms from Willoughby Arms to Willoughby de Eresby Arms. She the daughter of Robert Ufford 1st Earl Suffolk and Margaret Norwich Countess Suffolk.

Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby: Around 1339 she was born to William Zouche 2nd Baron Zouche Harringworth and Elizabeth Ros Baroness Zouche Harringworth. Before 1st October 1369 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby and she were married. They were sixth cousins. On 18th October 1391 Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby died.

Around 1380 [his son] Thomas Willoughby was born to Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 31] and [his wife] Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 41]. He married before July 1396 his fifth cousin Elizabeth Neville, daughter of John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby and Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby, and had issue.

On 28th May 1381 William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby [aged 51] died. He was buried at Guisborough Priory [Map]. His daughter [his future wife] Elizabeth [aged 24] succeeded 5th Baroness Latimer of Corby.

Before 9th October 1381 John Neville 3rd Baron Neville of Raby [aged 44] and [his future wife] Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Baroness Neville Raby. The difference in their ages was 20 years. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

After 3rd January 1383 [his son] William Willoughby 5th Baron Willoughby [aged 13] and [his daughter-in-law] Lucy Strange Baroness Willoughby Eresby were married. They were third cousins.

William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

She by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby. They were fifth cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 18th October 1391 [his wife] Margery Zouche Baroness Willoughby of Eresby [aged 52] died.

On 5th November 1395 [his wife] Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby [aged 38] died. Her son [his step-son] John [aged 13] succeeded 6th Baron Latimer of Corby.

Before July 1396 [his son] Thomas Willoughby [aged 16] and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Neville [aged 12] were married. They were step-brother and sister since his father Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 47] married her mother [his former wife] Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby in 1388. They were fifth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 9th August 1396 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [aged 47] died. His son William [aged 26] succeeded 5th Baron Willoughby de Eresby. Lucy Strange Baroness Willoughby Eresby by marriage Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

After 9th August 1396 Robert Willoughby 4th Baron Willoughby [deceased] was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map] with his third wife Elizabeth Latimer 5th Baroness Latimer, Baroness Neville and Willoughby. Early Plate Bascinet Period. Remarkable helm on which the Baron's head rests with a Bearded Man crest, or a man's bust ducally crowned. Excellent orle around the Baron's bascinet.
