Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke
Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 30th May 1622 John Leventhorpe 1st Baronet [aged 62] was created 1st Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire. Joan Brograve Lady Leventhorpe by marriage Lady Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire.
On 23rd September 1625 John Leventhorpe 1st Baronet [aged 65] died. His son Thomas [aged 33] succeeded 2nd Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire.
On 30th April 1636 Thomas Leventhorpe 2nd Baronet [aged 43] was killed in a duel with Arthur Capell of Little Hadham [aged 50]. His son John [aged 6] succeeded 3rd Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire.
On 29th November 1649 John Leventhorpe 3rd Baronet [aged 20] died of smallpox unmarried at Chancery Lane [Map]. His brother Thomas [aged 13] succeeded 4th Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire.
On 27th July 1679 Thomas Leventhorpe 4th Baronet [aged 43] died at Elvaston, Derbyshire [Map] having been kicked by a horse. His uncle Charles [aged 84] succeeded 5th Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire.
On 30th August 1680 Charles Leventhorpe 5th Baronet [aged 85] died unmarried. Baronet Leventhorpe of Shingey Hall in Hertfordshire extinct.
