William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 29th March 1840 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage was born to George Fieschi Heneage [aged 39].

On 11th May 1864 [his father] George Fieschi Heneage [aged 63] died.

On 9th June 1864 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 24] and Eleanor Cecilia Hare [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of William Hare 2nd Earl Listowel and Maria Augusta Windham Countess Listowel [aged 59].

In 1865 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 24] was elected MP Lincoln which seat he held until 1868.

On 31st August 1865 [his brother-in-law] William Hare 3rd Earl of Listowel [aged 32] and Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce Countess Listowell [aged 18] were married. She by marriage Countess Listowel in County Kerry. She the daughter of Ernest Brudenell-Bruce 3rd Marquess Ailesbury [aged 54] and Louisa Elizabeth Horsley Beresford Marchioness Ailesbury [aged 51]. He the son of William Hare 2nd Earl Listowel and [his mother-in-law] Maria Augusta Windham Countess Listowel [aged 60].

On 3rd July 1866 [his son] Lieutenant-Colonel George Edward Heneage 2nd Baron Heneage was born to Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 26] and [his wife] Eleanor Cecilia Hare [aged 21].

On 24th June 1877 [his son] Reverend Thomas Robert Heneage 3rd Baron Heneage was born to Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 37] and [his wife] Eleanor Cecilia Hare [aged 32].

In 1880 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 39] was appointed High Sheriff of Lincolnshire.

In 1880 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 39] was elected MP Grimsby which seat he held until 1895.

In 1886 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 45] was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

On 8th June 1896 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 56] was created 1st Baron Heneage of Hainton in Lincolnshire.

On 10th August 1922 Edward Heneage 1st Baron Heneage [aged 82] died. His son George [aged 56] succeeded 2nd Baron Heneage of Hainton in Lincolnshire.

On 29th September 1924 [his former wife] Eleanor Cecilia Hare [aged 79] died.
