On 30th May 1750 John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke was born to John Rous 5th Baronet [aged 23].
Before 31st October 1771 [his father] John Rous 5th Baronet [aged 44] and [his step-mother] Judith Bedingfield [aged 42] were married.
On 31st October 1771 [his father] John Rous 5th Baronet [aged 44] died. His son John [aged 21] succeeded 6th Baronet Stradbrooke of Henham in Suffolk.
In 1788 John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 37] and Juliana Warter Wilson were married.
In or before 1790 [his daughter] Frances Anne Juliana Rous was born to John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 39] and [his wife] Juliana Warter Wilson. She married before 3rd August 1824 Vice-Admiral Henry Hotham, son of Beaumont Hotham 2nd Baron Hotham, and had issue.
In 1790 [his wife] Juliana Warter Wilson died.
Before 27th February 1793 John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 42] and Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 23] were married.
On 27th February 1793 [his daughter] Charlotte Marianne Harriet Rous was born to John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 42] and [his wife] Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 23]. She married 27th December 1810 Nathaniel Micklethwait and had issue.
On 13th February 1794 [his son] John Rous 2nd Earl Stradbroke was born to John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 43] and [his wife] Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 24]. He married 26th May 1857 Augusta Musgrave Countess Stradbrooke, daughter of Christopher Musgrave 9th Baronet, and had issue.
Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 23rd January 1795 [his son] Admiral Henry John Rous was born to John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 44] and [his wife] Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 25]. He married 1838 Sophia Cuthbert.
On 21st July 1799 [his daughter] Louisa Rous was born to John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 49] and [his wife] Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 30]. She married 1824 Spencer de Horsey and had issue.
On 27th December 1810 [his son-in-law] Nathaniel Micklethwait [aged 36] and Charlotte Marianne Harriet Rous [aged 17] were married. She the daughter of John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 60] and Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 41].

Before 3rd August 1824 [his son-in-law] Vice-Admiral Henry Hotham [aged 47] and Frances Anne Juliana Rous [aged 34] were married. She the daughter of John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 74] and Juliana Warter Wilson.
On 27th August 1827 John Rous 1st Earl Stradbroke [aged 77] died. His son John [aged 33] succeeded 2nd Earl Stradbroke, 2nd Viscount Dunwich, 7th Baronet Stradbrooke of Henham in Suffolk.
On 15th January 1856 [his former wife] Charlotte Maria Whittaker Countess of Stradbroke [aged 86] died.
