Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet 1810-1877

On 12th August 1808 [his father] Captain Anthony Abdy [aged 28] and [his mother] Grace Rich [aged 16] were married.

On 21st December 1810 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet was born to Captain Anthony Abdy [aged 30] and Grace Rich [aged 18]. He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester. He was baptised at St Mary Abbots Church, Kensington on 14th December 1811.

After 1812 [his mother] Grace Rich [deceased] died.

In 1829 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 18] matricuated St John's College, Cambridge University [Map]. He graduated in 1833 with a BA.

On 9th June 1838 [his father] Captain Anthony Abdy [aged 58] died.

On 19th October 1841 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 30] and Harriet Alston were married. They had at least two daughters and three sons each of which succeeded to the Baronetcy.

In 1842 [his son] Mary Harriet Abdy was born to Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 31] and [his wife] Harriet Alston. He died aged eleven in 1853.

On 18th June 1844 [his son] William Neville Abdy 2nd Baronet was born to Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 33] and [his wife] Harriet Alston.

On 6th July 1846 [his daughter] Grace Emma Abdy was born to Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 35] and [his wife] Harriet Alston. She married 19th March 1872 Albert Leveson-Gower, son of George Sutherland Leveson-Gower 2nd Duke Sutherland and Harriet Elizabeth Georgiana Howard Duchess Sutherland.

In 1847 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 36] was elected MP Lyme Regis which seat he held until 1852.

On 19th September 1848 [his son] Anthony Charles Abdy 3rd Baronet was born to Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 37] and [his wife] Harriet Alston. He married 11th November 1886 Alexandrina Victoria Macdonald and had issue.

Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed Sunder the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Baronet of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto Thomas Neville Abdy [aged 39], of Albyns, in the county of Essex¹, Esq. and to the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten.

The Queen has also been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Baronet, of the.United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto James-Phillips Kay Shuttleworth [aged 45], of Gawthorpe Hall, in the county palatine of Lancaster, Esq. and to the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten.

Note 1. He was a great-grandson of Charlotte Elizabeth Abdy, sister of Anthony Thomas Abdy 5th Baronet, the last of the Baronets Abdy of Felix Hall in Essex.

In 1853 [his son] Mary Harriet Abdy [aged 11] died.

On 13th July 1853 [his son] Henry Abdy 4th Baronet was born to Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 42] and [his wife] Harriet Alston. He married 22nd March 1891 Anna Adele Coronn and had issue.

On 19th March 1872 [his son-in-law] Albert Leveson-Gower [aged 28] and [his daughter] Grace Emma Abdy [aged 25] were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. He the son of George Sutherland Leveson-Gower 2nd Duke Sutherland and Harriet Elizabeth Georgiana Howard Duchess Sutherland.

In 1875 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 64] was appointed High Sheriff of Essex.

On 20th July 1877 Thomas Neville Abdy 1st Baronet [aged 66] died. His son William [aged 33] succeeded 2nd Baronet Abdy of Albyns in Essex.
