On 12th November 1892 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel was born to Admiral Francis Charles Methuen Noel [aged 40] and Wilmot Juliana Snow.
In 1905 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 12] joined the Royal Naval College, Osborne
On 15th April 1915 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 22] was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
On 3rd February 1916 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 23] was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal for lifesaving at sea, in this case an R.N.R. stoker in Hindustan.
In December 1917 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 25] was awarded a clasp to his Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal for a second incident at Immingham.
On 15th October 1923 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 30] was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander.
On 30th December 1925 [his father] Admiral Francis Charles Methuen Noel [aged 73] died at his home, 33 Redcliffe Square, London
In or before 1927 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 34] and Christabel Florence Arthur Startin [aged 31] were married.
On 10th November 1939 [his mother] Wilmot Juliana Snow died at 2 Childs Street, London, the home of her daughter [his sister] Mary Penelope Noel [aged 52].
On 6th April 1941 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel [aged 48] was killed in action while on Convoy duty in the English channel. HMS Torrent, Surprise, Tornado and Radiant ran into a German minefield, with Torrent striking a German mine. Surprise and Tornado went to rescue Torrent's crew, but Torrent struck a second mine and quickly sank. In an attempt to rescue survivors, Surprise and Tornado also struck mines and sank. Only Radiant was undamaged and picked up the survivors from the three ships. In total, 12 officers and 240 other ranks were killed from the three ships. Only three of Torrent's crew survived, with 68 killed.
