The Duke Guelders title passed to his sisters and their husband's resulting in a war of succession with William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich [aged 7], son of his sister [his mother] Marie Guelders Duchess Jülich eventually succeeding.
In 1377 William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich [aged 12] succeeded 3rd Duke Guelders.
In 1379 William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich [aged 14] and Katherine Wittelsbach Duchess Guelders [aged 17] were married. She by marriage Duchess Guelders, Duchess Guelders. She the daughter of Albert Wittelsbach I Duke Lower Bavaria [aged 42] and Margaret of Silesia Duchesa Lowwer Bavaria [aged 37]. Around 1399 William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich [aged 34] was appointed 81st Knight of the Garter by King Richard II of England [aged 31].
