Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

In 1641 Hugh Cholmley 1st Baronet [aged 40] was created 1st Baronet Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire. Elizabeth Twysden Lady Cholmley by marriage Lady Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire.
On 30th November 1657 Hugh Cholmley 1st Baronet [aged 57] died. His son William [aged 31] succeeded 2nd Baronet Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire. Katherine Savile Lady Cholmley by marriage Lady Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire.
On 11th October 1663 William Cholmley 2nd Baronet [aged 37] died. His son Hugh [aged 1] succeeded 3rd Baronet Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire.
In 1665 Hugh Cholmley 3rd Baronet [aged 3] died. His uncle Hugh [aged 32] succeeded 4th Baronet Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire.
On 19th February 1666 Hugh Cholmley 4th Baronet [aged 33] and Anne Compton Lady Rushout [aged 29] were married. She by marriage Lady Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire. She the daughter of Spencer Compton 2nd Earl of Northampton and Mary Beaumont Countess of Northampton.
On 9th January 1689 Hugh Cholmley 4th Baronet [aged 56] died without male issue. Baronet Cholmley of Whitby in Yorkshire extinct.
