In 1659 Thomas Skipwith 1st Baronet [aged 39] was elected MP Grantham. He was re-elected in 1660.
In 1673 [his son-in-law] John Williams 2nd Baronet [aged 31] and [his daughter] Susan Skipwith Lady Williams were married. She by marriage Lady Williams of Marnull in Dorset.
On 29th May 1673 Thomas Skipwith 1st Baronet [aged 53] was knighted at Whitehall.
After 1675 [his son] Thomas Skipwith 2nd Baronet [aged 23] and [his daughter-in-law] Margaret Brydges were married.

On 27th July 1678 Thomas Skipwith 1st Baronet [aged 58] was created 1st Baronet Skipwith of Metheringham.
On 2nd June 1694 Thomas Skipwith 1st Baronet [aged 74] died. His son Thomas [aged 42] succeeded 2nd Baronet Skipwith of Metheringham.
