Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

William Twysden 1st Baronet [aged 45] was created 1st Baronet Twysden of Roydon in Kent. Anne Finch Lady Twysden [aged 37] by marriage Lady Twysden of Roydon in Kent.

John Wentworth 1st Baronet [aged 28] was created 1st Baronet Wentworth of Gosfield. Catherine Finch Lady Wentworth [aged 23] by marriage Lady Wentworth of Gosfield.

William Wentworth 1st Baronet [aged 49] was created 1st Baronet Wentworth of Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire.

Henry Willoughby 1st Baronet [aged 31] was created 1st Baronet Willoughby of Risley in Derbyshire.

Philip Wodehouse 1st Baronet was created 1st Baronet Woodhouse of Wilberhall. Note. Date uncertain.

Richard Worsley 1st Baronet [aged 22] was created 1st Baronet Worsley of Appuldurcombe.

On 1st March 1627 John Wynn 1st Baronet [aged 74] died. His son Richard [aged 39] succeeded 2nd Baronet Wynn of Gwydir.

On 19th July 1649 Richard Wynn 2nd Baronet [aged 61] died without issue. His brother Owen [aged 57] succeeded 3rd Baronet Wynn of Gwydir.

In 1660 Owen Wynn 3rd Baronet [aged 68] died. His son Richard [aged 35] succeeded 4th Baronet Wynn of Gwydir.

In 1674 Richard Wynn 4th Baronet [aged 49] died. His first cousin John [aged 46] succeeded 5th Baronet Wynn of Gwydir.

On 11th January 1719 John Wynn 5th Baronet [aged 91] died without issue. Baronet Wynn of Gwydir extinct. He bequeathed his estates, the second or third largest in Wales, to his second-cousin once-removed Jane Thelwall, who had predeceased him, daughter of his great-aunt Sydney Wynn [aged 79]. By doing so the his estates and the Williams estates of her former husband William Williams-Wynn 2nd Baronet [aged 54], also the second or third largest in Wales, were combined into the largest estate in Wales which far execeeded any other. At this time William Williams-Wynn 2nd Baronet changed his surname from Williams to Williams-Wynn.
