Paternal Family Tree: Clinton
On 4th April 1886 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton was born to Charles Edward Fiennes-Clinton (age 31). He was baptised at St Mary's Church, Bootle on the 16th June 1886.
In 1888 [his father] Charles Edward Fiennes-Clinton (age 33) died.
On 16th August 1912 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 26) and Edith Annie Guest were married.
On 23rd February 1913 [his son] Edward Horace Fiennes-Clinton 18th Earl of Lincoln was born to Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 26) and [his wife] Edith Annie Guest at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
On 20th August 1915 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 29) enlisted at Perth, Australia.
On 2nd November 1915 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 29) embarked from Freematle in HMAT A38 Ulysses and landed in Zeiteun, Egypt on 31st March 1916 and joined his battalion 51th battalion at Tel el Kebir, Egypt the same day.
On 5th June 1916 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 30) embarked from Alexandria and landed at Marseilles, France on 12th June 1916.
On 17th August 1916 Edward Henry Fiennes-Clinton (age 30) was accidentally shot and killed by 3475 Pte Wilfred Crossley Bowler who by his "careless handling of a loaded revolver" fired a shot which hit Charles in the hip/abdomen. He was buried at Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. A court of enquiry was set up at Bonneville on 20th August 1916 its President was Captain R. Christie, into the death of Private Fiennes-Clinton and it was found that the death was an accident due to the careless handling of a loaded revolver by Private 3475 Bowler.
