On 11th July 1774 Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore was born to [his father] Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore (age 34) and [his mother] Margaret Butler (age 26) at Sackville Street Dublin.

In April 1775 [his mother] Margaret Butler (age 27) died.

On 2nd March 1780 [his father] Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore (age 39) and [his step-mother] Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore (age 17) were married. She by marriage Countess Belmore in the County of Fermanagh. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire (age 56) and Mary Anne Drury Countess Buckinghamshire.

On 6th December 1789 [his father] Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore (age 49) was created 1st Viscount Belmore of Fermanagh. [his step-mother] Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore (age 27) by marriage Viscountess Belmore of Fermanagh.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

On 20th October 1800 Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore (age 26) and Juliana Butler Countess Belmore (age 17) were married. He the son of Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore (age 60) and Margaret Butler. They were first cousins.

On 28th December 1801 [his son] Armar Lowry-Corry 3rd Earl Belmore was born to Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore (age 27) and [his wife] Juliana Butler Countess Belmore (age 18). Coefficient of inbreeding 6.27%. He married before 9th April 1835 Emily Louise Shepherd Countess Belmore and had issue.

On 2nd February 1802 [his father] Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore (age 61) died at Bath, Somerset [Map]. His son Somerset (age 27) succeeded 2nd Earl Belmore in the County of Fermanagh, Viscount Belmore of Fermanagh and Baron Belmore of Castle Coole in the County of Fermanagh. [his wife] Juliana Butler Countess Belmore (age 18) by marriage Countess Belmore in the County of Fermanagh.

On 9th March 1803 [his son] Henry Lowry-Corry was born to Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore (age 28) and [his wife] Juliana Butler Countess Belmore (age 19). Coefficient of inbreeding 6.27%. He married 1830 his half sixth cousin Harriet Anne Ashley-Cooper, daughter of Cropley Ashley-Cooper 6th Earl Shaftesbury and Anne Spencer-Churchill Countess Shaftesbury, and had issue.

On 9th July 1804 [his brother-in-law] George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich (age 31) and [his half-sister] Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich (age 23) were married. She the daughter of [his father] Armar Lowry-Corry 1st Earl Belmore and [his step-mother] Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore (age 42). He the son of John Montagu 5th Earl Sandwich (age 60) and Maria Henrietta Powlett.

On 6th June 1814 John Montagu 5th Earl Sandwich (age 70) died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map]. His son [his brother-in-law] George (age 41) succeeded 6th Earl Sandwich. [his half-sister] Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich (age 33) by marriage Countess Sandwich.

In 1828 Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore (age 53) was appointed Governor of Jamaica which post he held until 1832.

In 1830 [his son] Henry Lowry-Corry (age 26) and [his daughter-in-law] Harriet Anne Ashley-Cooper were married. She the daughter of Cropley Ashley-Cooper 6th Earl Shaftesbury (age 61) and Anne Spencer-Churchill Countess Shaftesbury (age 57). He the son of Somerset Lowry-Corry 2nd Earl Belmore (age 55) and [his wife] Juliana Butler Countess Belmore (age 46). They were half sixth cousins.
