In 1617 [her father] George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 34] and [her mother] Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Duchess Brunswick Lüneburg.
On 24th March 1628 Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark was born to George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 46] and Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 26].
On 12th April 1641 [her father] George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 59] died. His son [her brother] Christian [aged 19] succeeded Duke Brunswick Lüneburg.
In 1643 Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 33] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 14] were married. She the daughter of George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg and Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 41]. He the son of Christian IV King of Denmark [aged 65]. They were sixth cousins.
On 15th April 1646 [her son] Christian V King of Denmark and Norway was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 37] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 18]. He married 15th June 1667 his fourth cousin Charlotte Amalie Hesse-Kassel Queen Consort Denmark and Norway, daughter of Wilhelm "The Just" VI Hesse-Kassel and Hedwig Sophia Hohenzollern, and had issue.
On 1st September 1647 [her daughter] Anna Sophie Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 38] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 19]. She married 9th October 1666 her third cousin once removed John George Wettin III Elector Saxony and had issue.
On 28th February 1648 [her father-in-law] Christian IV King of Denmark [aged 70] died. His son [her husband] Frederick [aged 38] succeeded III King of Denmark. Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 19] by marriage Queen Consort Denmark.
On 11th April 1649 [her daughter] Frederica Amalia Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 40] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 21].
On 21st June 1650 [her daughter] Wilhelmina Ernestina Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 41] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 22].
William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 11th October 1651 [her son] Frederick Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 42] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 23]. He died aged less than one years old.
On 14th March 1652 [her son] Frederick Oldenburg died.
On 2nd April 1653 [her son] Prince George of Denmark 1st Duke Cumberland was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 44] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 25] at Copenhagen Castle. He married 28th July 1683 his second cousin once removed Queen Anne of England Scotland and Ireland, daughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland and Anne Hyde Duchess of York, and had issue.
On 11th September 1656 [her daughter] Ulrika Eleonora Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 47] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 28]. She married 6th May 1680 her third cousin twice removed Charles XI King Sweden, son of Charles Gustav X King Sweden and Hedwig Eleonora Queen Consort Sweden, and had issue.
On 16th November 1657 [her daughter] Dorothea Oldenburg was born to [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 48] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 29]. She died aged less than one years old.
On 15th May 1658 [her daughter] Dorothea Oldenburg died.
On 30th September 1658 [her brother] Ernest Augustus Hanover Elector Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 28] and [her sister-in-law] Electress Sophia Palatinate Simmern [aged 27] were married. She the daughter of Frederick Palatinate Simmern V Elector Palatine Rhine and Princess Elizabeth Stewart Queen Bohemia [aged 62]. He the son of [her father] George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg and [her mother] Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 57].
On 6th May 1659 [her mother] Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 57] died.
In 1665 Christian Ludwig Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 43] died. His brother George [aged 40] succeeded Duke Brunswick Lüneburg.
On 9th October 1666 [her son-in-law] John George Wettin III Elector Saxony [aged 19] and Anna Sophie Oldenburg [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 57] and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 38]. He the son of John George Wettin Elector Saxony [aged 53]. They were third cousin once removed.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

On 9th February 1670 [her husband] Frederick III King of Denmark [aged 60] died. His son Christian [aged 23] succeeded V King of Denmark and Norway. Charlotte Amalie Hesse-Kassel Queen Consort Denmark and Norway [aged 19] by marriage Queen Consort Denmark and Norway.
On 2nd April 1676 [her brother] George Wilhelm Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 52] and [her sister-in-law] Eleonore Esmier D'Olbreuse Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg were married. She by marriage Duchess Brunswick Lüneburg. He the son of [her father] George Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg and [her mother] Anne Eleonore Hesse Darmstadt Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg.
On 6th May 1680 [her son-in-law] Charles XI King Sweden [aged 24] and Ulrika Eleonora Oldenburg [aged 23] were married. She the daughter of Frederick III King of Denmark and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 52]. He the son of Charles Gustav X King Sweden and Hedwig Eleonora Queen Consort Sweden [aged 43]. They were third cousin twice removed.
On 21st November 1682 [her nephew] George Louis of Hanover [aged 22] and [her niece] Sophia Dorothea of Celle [aged 16] were married. The marriage had been arranged by their respective fathers [her brother] Ernest Augustus Hanover Elector Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 53] and George Wilhelm Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg [aged 58], and his mother Electress Sophia Palatinate Simmern [aged 52]. She the illegitmate daughter of George Wilhelm Hanover Duke Brunswick-Lüneburg and Eleonore Esmier D'Olbreuse Duchess Brunswick-Lüneburg. He the son of Ernest Augustus Hanover Elector Brunswick-Lüneburg and Electress Sophia Palatinate Simmern. They were first cousins. He a great grandson of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.
On 28th July 1683 Prince George of Denmark 1st Duke Cumberland [aged 30] and Queen Anne of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 18] were married at Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. She the daughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 49] and Anne Hyde Duchess of York. He the son of Frederick III King of Denmark and Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 55]. They were second cousin once removed.
In 20th February 1685 Sophie Amalie Hanover Queen Consort Denmark [aged 56] died.
